It’s National Coming Out Week, Y’all And Conservative Facebook Is Shaking

“Living your truth is the loudest. Proudest act of rebellion. And baby, it’s contagious.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. And call upon the ancestors. It is National Coming Out Week! And the spirits are ready for a show. Before we let my cats start their usual porch‑swing chaos, let’s set the stage.

National Coming Out Week is all about celebrating truth, courage, and the glorious moment when someone says, “This is who I am. And I’m done pretending otherwise.” It’s about honoring every person who steps into their identity loudly, quietly, flamboyantly, nervously, or with the confidence of a drag queen who just found out the sequins were buy‑one‑get‑one. It’s a week of visibility, joy, and community. The reminder that coming out isn’t just an announcement. It’s liberation. It’s choosing authenticity over fear. Connection over silence. And pride over shame. And honey, that deserves a parade, a potluck, and at least three casseroles.

Piper: “Momma, I’m declaring myself the official mascot of National Coming Out Week. I’ve been coming out of closets, cabinets, and the neighbor’s boat shed since 2019. I am basically the Rosa Parks of dramatic entrances.”

Coco: “Piper, you come out because you break in. That’s not activism. That’s burglary. And I’m coming out as exhausted by your delusions.”

Tinkerbell: “I would like to come out as spiritually evolved. I have transcended. I am now operating on a higher frequency. Y’all wouldn’t understand.”

Piper: “Tinkerbell, you cried for 45 minutes last week because your shadow ‘looked disappointed.’ You are not transcended. You are fragile.”

Coco: “And let’s not forget when you tried to sage the litter box. The ancestors did not ask for that. They were probably up there hollerin,’ ‘Girl, stop’!”

Tinkerbell: “I was cleansing the negativity. Y’all are toxic.”

Piper: “Anyway, Momma, tell the people how National Coming Out Week works in Mississippi. Tell them how folks whisper ‘I’m gay’ like they’re confessing to stealing the church’s folding chairs.”

Coco: “Or how the local conservative Facebook group thinks ‘coming out’ means revealing your secret banana pudding recipe.”

Tinkerbell: “Or how Pastor Earl says, ‘We welcome everyone.’ But his eyebrow twitches like it’s trying to file for emancipation.”

Down here coming out can feel like announcing you’ve switched from sweet tea to unsweetened. Folks gasp. Someone faints. A distant cousin writes a Facebook post that begins with, “I’m not judging, BUT…” But National Coming Out Week is about joy, truth, and living louder than a cicada in mating season. It’s about saying, “My identity is not up for debate, discussion, or discount.”

It’s about celebrating every story, step, and brave moment. Even the tiny ones. Even the “I’m not ready to tell Aunt Linda yet because she still thinks Lady Gaga is a witch” steps. And it’s about knowing the ancestors are nodding. The universe is vibing. And your cats are probably judging. But lovingly.

So as the charcoal burns. The sage smokes. And the ancestors lean in like they’re watching a telenovela, remember this. Coming out isn’t a one‑time event. It’s a lifelong celebration. A reclamation. A declaration that you refuse to shrink yourself to fit inside somebody’s casserole dish of expectations. And if anyone in the conservative South gets confused, just smile sweetly. Adjust your crown and say, “I didn’t come out for your comfort. I came out for my joy.” Then strut away like Piper after knocking something off the counter. Coco after stealing snacks. Or Tinkerbell after achieving inner peace for 11 seconds.

National Coming Out Week: Where the truth is loud. The humor is louder. And the ancestors are hollerin’ ‘YASSSSS.’ Thanks for reading! And come on out!!!💙🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈

Affirmation: My truth is sacred. My identity is powerful. And I walk forward with pride, humor, and a whole lot of Southern sparkle.

Pete Hegseth vs. Basic Logic: A Battle He Keeps Losing

“Leadership isn’t about explosions, ego, or firing everyone who disagrees. It’s about protecting the people you’re responsible for.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Grab the ancestors. Every ancestor from the Delta to the foothills is gathering around the fire pit. And clutching their pearls whispering, “Lord, this fool again?”

Secretary Pete Hegseth is a man who has turned the Pentagon into a haunted Waffle House with missiles. He is also known as “Secretary of Cirrhosis,” “Pete Kegsbreath,” “Whiskey Pete,” “Colonel Vodka,” and “Secretary of Jägermeister.” He has once again turned the Department of Defense into a demolition derby run by a man who thinks leadership is just yelling “send it” at a map he can’t read. And firing anyone who doesn’t look like his reflection.

This is the saga of a man who wakes up every morning. Salutes himself. Flexes in the mirror. And then proceeds to commit international incidents so stupid they make raccoons look like Nobel Prize winners. Let’s dive into all of his stupidity.

Firing Gay and Trans Soldiers

Pete strutted into the Pentagon and declared, “We’re restoring traditional values.” While also having affairs and paying off women to keep their mouths shut.

Translation: he fired gay soldiers, trans soldiers, and anyone who dared to have a personality. The ancestors collectively rolled their eyes so hard they sprained a spiritual muscle.

Disenfranchising Black Soldiers

Then he decided Black soldiers were “too political.” Which is rich coming from a man whose entire personality is a protein shake and a conspiracy theory.

He stripped them of roles, promotions, and dignity. And then acted confused when morale dropped faster than his approval rating.

Getting Rid of Female Service Members

Pete claimed female service members were “a distraction.” Which is hilarious because the only distraction in the Pentagon is Pete himself. He’s wandering around shirtless. Flexing. And mispronouncing countries.

He fired women left and right. Then wondered why the military suddenly had the emotional maturity of a middle school dodgeball team.

The USS Abraham Lincoln Horror Show

And then came the USS Abraham Lincoln scandal. Soldiers and their families reported horrific conditions that included:

  • Mold in the sleeping quarters
  • Sewage leaks
  • No working AC
  • Food that looked like it had already given up
  • Rats bold enough to request rank

Pete ignored every report. He said the ship was “fine.” He said the soldiers were “dramatic.” He said the rats were “part of the ecosystem.” The ancestors started lighting sage like it was a bonfire.

The Fishing Boat Fiasco

Pete claimed fishermen were trafficking drugs. They were literally just fishing. For fish. Not cocaine catfish. Not heroin haddock. Just fish. He bombed them anyway.

Bombing a School of 160 Girls

Pete pointed at a satellite photo and said, “That’s a terrorist camp.” It was a school. A school full of 160 girls learning math, science, and how to survive men like Pete.

Bombing a Wedding Ceremony

He later approved a drone strike on what he believed was “an enemy gathering.” It was a wedding. A wedding with a string quartet, a chocolate fountain, and a very confused officiant.

The Unlawful War in Iran

Pete misread a meme and declared war on Iran. Congress said no. The Pentagon said no. Pete said, “Too late, I already tweeted it.”

10 Crimes Committed by Secretary Pete Hegseth

  1. Bombing innocent fishermen who were literally just vibing.
  2. Bombing a school of 160 girls learning multiplication.
  3. Bombing a wedding because he thought the string quartet looked suspicious.
  4. Launching an unlawful war in Iran because he misread a meme.
  5. Firing gay soldiers for existing.
  6. Firing trans soldiers for breathing.
  7. Disenfranchising Black soldiers for having opinions.
  8. Removing female service members because he’s threatened by competence.
  9. Ignoring horrific conditions on the USS Abraham Lincoln.
  10. Declaring martial law in a Waffle House parking lot “for training purposes.”

The ancestors are now chain‑smoking imaginary cigarettes.

And there you have it. The tragic, comedic, catastrophic tale of Secretary Pete Hegseth. A man who proves daily that power in the wrong hands isn’t just dangerous. It’s slapstick tragedy. He is not a leader. He is not a strategist. He is a walking, talking cautionary tale wrapped in ego, chaos, and the belief that consequences are for other people. And after all of that, I would be an alcoholic too. Mic dropped. Floor cracked. Ancestors nodding in exhausted agreement. Thanks for reading! Get out and vote.

Affirmation: I release chaos. Embrace clarity. And refuse to let anyone with a title and a temper ruin my peace.

The Scott Bessant Treasury Trauma Diaries

“Corruption doesn’t need brilliance. Just a man bold enough to lie with confidence.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Grab the ancestors again. Because today we’re writing one unified, unhinged, fully roast‑blog about the most catastrophically incompetent Treasury leader ever to grace a swivel chair. His name is Scott “Member of the Closetocracy” Bessant. And we’re stitching in the employee diary so tight the ancestors themselves are flipping through it like it’s a family Bible. Settle in.

The ancestors are already pacing barefoot in the yard. Clutching sweet tea and muttering, “Lord, this boy ain’t right.” The Treasury Secretary has turned America’s finances into a haunted carnival ride. That is powered by lies, coverups, and the kind of corruption that makes calculators file HR complaints. This man walked into the Treasury Department like he was entering a casino he already owed money to. He came equipped with a briefcase full of lies. A moral compass that points directly to embezzlement. A smile that says, “I definitely deleted the wrong email on purpose.” And a leadership style best described as “raccoon in a bank vault” The ancestors have lit the sage. The interns have hidden the staplers. The diary has been opened. Let’s begin.

Scott Bessant has turned the Treasury Department into a Dollar Store clearance bin of chaos. His financial policies rattle when you shake them. His press conferences contradict themselves before he finishes the first sentence. His scandals are alphabetically organized. And we still ran out of alphabet.

He once said, “We’re financially stable.” While standing in front of a spreadsheet that looked like a heart monitor flatlining. He tried to explain inflation using a sock puppet named “Fiscal Freddy.” He once told reporters, “The missing funds will turn up.” As if billions of dollars are a set of car keys he misplaced in a couch cushion. Maybe JD Vance will find it there. And now we reveal the diary.

These entries were written in the margins of government notebooks. Smudged with tears and coffee. And the quiet despair of someone who has watched Scott Bessant try to explain basic math.

Day 12: Scott held a meeting to “clarify the budget.” He brought a whiteboard with the words: “Step 1: vibes. Step 2: trust me.” I have updated my résumé.

Day 27: He told us the missing gold bars were “on loan.” To whom? He winked. I cried.

Day 41: Scott introduced a new financial policy called “Money Momentum.” It’s just… gambling. He made us clap.

Day 63: He asked if we could “round down the national debt.” I asked if he meant mathematically or spiritually. He said, “Yes.”

Day 78: He hosted a mandatory team-building exercise called “Find the Fraud.” It was him. He was the fraud.

Day 102: He announced a new transparency initiative. Then he turned off all the lights and whispered, “Now no one can see the numbers.”

Day 119: He started a Treasury TikTok series called “Budget Daddy.” I have submitted my resignation.

Day 140: He tried to “manifest financial stability.” He lit incense. The fire alarm went off.

Day 167: He declared himself “The People’s Accountant.” The people did not ask for this.

Day 200: He tried to pay for lunch with a commemorative coin. The cashier refused. He said, “This is why the economy is failing.” I whispered, “No, sir. You are.”

10 Things That Made Scott Bessant the Bandit a Corruption Hall-of-Famer

  1. The $4 Billion Disappearing Act He said it “evaporated.” Sir, money is not steam.
  2. The Propaganda PowerPoints He spent millions on slides that said “Everything is fine” in Comic Sans.
  3. The Fake Audit He hired a magician. A literal magician.
  4. The Gold Bar “Samples” Samples of what, Scott?
  5. The Treasury TikTok Debacle He made interns film him juggling staplers while saying, “Watch me balance this budget.”
  6. The Cayman Islands “Business Trip” He returned with a tan and a suspicious necklace.
  7. The Emergency Budget Meeting He showed up with a whiteboard that said: “Step 1: Panic. Step 2: Blame Janet.”
  8. The National Debt Raffle First prize: Lunch with Scott. No one entered.
  9. The Coverup Coverup He lied about lying about lying. A corruption turducken.
  10. The Treasury Escape Room He locked reporters inside until they “understood economics.” They emerged traumatized.

And that is the full saga of Scott Bessant. The U.S. Treasury leader who turned the nation’s finances into a haunted carnival ride. He is the human equivalent of a bounced check. The spiritual embodiment of a malfunctioning calculator. The reason the ancestors keep muttering, “Put that boy in a time-out.” His legacy will be remembered as a treasury held together with duct tape. A budget written in crayon. A department powered by caffeine, prayer, and denial. And after all of that, I would stay in the closet also. Mic dropped. Floor cracked. Ancestors nodding. Diary closed. Treasury still smoking. Thanks for reading! Vote these fools out!

Affirmation: I rise above chaos. See through manipulation. And refuse to bow to fools with power.

The Administration’s War on Women: A Southern Woman’s Warning Shot

“When they try to silence you remember. Your voice carries the strength of every woman who refused to disappear.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Invoke the ancestors. At this point, I need every woman who ever walked barefoot through red clay. Every grandmother who ever whispered warnings in church pews. And every ancestor who ever held the line when the world tried to fold them in half. I need their strength, fire, and their stubborn refusal to disappear.

We are living in a moment where misogyny isn’t hiding in the shadows. It’s out here doing cartwheels in broad daylight. Feminists are fighting battles we already fought. Already won. Already buried. And already prayed over. And somehow, under this administration, those victories are being dug up like someone’s trying to rewrite the past and call it “progress.”

It’s emotional. It’s infuriating. It’s surreal. And yes the sarcasm is necessary. Because if I don’t laugh, I’ll start flipping tables. This isn’t just politics. This is personal. This is generational. This is spiritual. This is about the rights that shape our bodies, futures, families, safety, and dignity.

Before I get into this, let me say this clearly. These aren’t abstract policy points. These are lived experiences. These are wounds. These are warnings. These are the things I feel in my bones when I wake up and read the news.

Ten Women’s Rights Being Dismantled By This Administration

1. Reproductive autonomy

It feels like someone reached into my life and tried to snatch the steering wheel. Like our bodies are suddenly a battleground for people who will never carry a pregnancy. Never face the risks. And never feel the fear. It’s invasive. It’s dehumanizing. It’s infuriating.

2. Access to contraception

This rollback feels like a punishment for daring to plan my life. For daring to protect myself. For daring to choose when and if motherhood fits into my story. It’s insulting to my intelligence and dangerous to my future.

3. Domestic violence protections

Watching these weaken feels like watching a door slowly close on women, like me, who needed it open the most. It feels like the system is shrugging at our trauma. Like safety is optional. Like survival is a privilege instead of a right.

4. Equal pay initiatives

Women who have worked their whole lives have carried more weight than they should’ve had to. Seeing equal pay slip backward feels like being told, “Your work matters. But not as much as his.” It’s a slap wrapped in a smile.

5. Sexual harassment safeguards

This rollback feels like a return to the days when women had to swallow discomfort to keep a job. When we had to laugh off comments to survive. When our boundaries were treated like suggestions. It’s a reminder of every moment I felt unsafe but stayed quiet.

6. Maternal healthcare funding

As a mother, this one cuts deep. Pregnancy is not a hobby. Childbirth is not a casual event. Reducing maternal care feels like telling women, “Your life is an acceptable risk.” It’s cruel. It’s reckless. It’s unforgivable.

7. Title IX protections

I think of every girl who dreams big. Girls who run. Jump. Compete. And fight for their place. Rolling back Title IX feels like telling them, “Your dreams matter less.” It’s a theft of opportunity and a betrayal of potential.

8. Workplace discrimination enforcement

I’ve been labeled “too outspoken,” “too emotional,” “too much.” Weakening enforcement feels like handing every biased boss a permission slip. It feels like erasing the progress women clawed their way toward.

9. Childcare support programs

Working mother know that childcare is the backbone of survival. Cutting support feels like telling women, “Figure it out.” While knowing the system is designed for women to fail. It’s dismissive and deeply out of touch.

10. Representation in leadership roles

I’ve watched rooms full of men make decisions about women’s lives with the confidence of people who will never face the consequences. Reducing representation feels like erasing our voices from the future which is silencing by design.

Before I close, let me introduce what I’m about to say. This isn’t just a conclusion. This is a vow. A reminder. A line drawn in the sand. I am not here to shrink. I am not here to be quiet. I am not here to politely accept the erosion of my rights. I am the charcoal lit. I am the sage burning. I am the echo of every woman who refused to bow. And I will not sit still while my rights are peeled away like petals from a flower someone never bothered to water. Feminists aren’t fighting for attention. We’re fighting for survival. For dignity. For the future, our daughters deserve. And the one our ancestors dreamed of.

Let them underestimate us. Let them believe silence is compliance. Let them think we won’t notice. Because when women rise, we rise like storms. We rise like thunder rolling across the South. We rise like every ancestor who ever said, “Not today.” And watch us reclaim every damn thing they tried to take.

Affirmation: I rise rooted in truth that is guided by my ancestors. Fueled by my fire. And unshakeable in my right to exist fully, loudly, and freely.

Cornell, LSU, and the America That Keeps Choosing Predators: What the Hell Is Wrong With Us?

“A nation that excuses its predators will always silence its survivors.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. And call in the ancestors. The loud ones, the unfiltered ones, the ones who never learned to whisper. Today I’m summoning Ida B. Wells, Maya Angelou, Nina Simone, Toni Morrison, and every grandmother who ever slammed a cast‑iron skillet down and said, “Not my babies. Not today. Not ever.” Because what we’re about to talk about requires their fire, their fury, and their refusal to sit politely while the world burns around us. They are pacing. They’re rattling the windows. They’re demanding to know how a nation with libraries, universities, churches, and a Constitution still can’t figure out that rape is wrong.

Cornell University and Louisiana State University are two institutions that love to brag about excellence, prestige, and legacy. Yet somehow can’t grasp the basic concept of protecting students from sexual assault. And now punishments include writing an essay? As if rape is a missed homework assignment. As if trauma is a teachable moment for the predator. Instead of a lifelong sentence for the victim. The ancestors are not amused. And neither am I.

Let’s ask the question America keeps dodging like it’s a bill collector, “What the hell is wrong with us when we have created a rape culture?” And don’t you dare pretend it came out of nowhere. Let’s start at the top at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Where 77,000,000 voters decided that sexual abuse, rape allegations, and bragging about assault were just personality quirks. You know the excuses about “Locker room talk,” “Boys will be boys” , and “He tells it like it is.” No. He told us exactly what he does. And millions said, “Sounds good to me.”

When the leader of the country can say he can “grab them by the pussy” and get away with it, why are we shocked when college students mimic the behavior? Why are we surprised when institutions protect predators? Why do we act confused when victims stay silent? This is not confusion. This is culture. This is conditioning. This is America refusing to confront its sickness.

Politicians have paid off victims. Church leaders have hidden abusers behind pulpits. Celebrities have settlements thicker than their resumes. And the public shrugs. But victims get shamed. We get interrogated. We get asked what we were wearing. We get told we “waited too long.” We get treated like E. Jean Carroll who was sexually assaulted, defamed, mocked, and dragged by the very man who attacked her, Donald Trump. And by his cultists who call themselves “Christians.”And you wonder why so many stay silent? You wonder why survivors disappear into themselves? You wonder why healing feels like climbing a mountain with no summit? Here are two recent incidences of the same type of justified behavior.

Cornell University — Current Case (2024–2026)

The current Cornell case centers on a lawsuit filed in September 2026 by a former student, Jane Doe, who alleges she was drugged and gang‑raped by seven Chi Phi fraternity members on October 19, 2024. According to the lawsuit, she was intoxicated. Coerced into snorting what defendants claimed was ketamine. And then repeatedly assaulted for several hours by multiple fraternity members. One defendant allegedly sent a Snapchat message to the Chi Phi group chat advertising “free pussy” to encourage more men to join the assault. Doe reported the incident to Cornell police weeks later. The university conducted at least 12 hearings. Of the seven accused, only two were expelled. Others received lesser sanctions such as suspensions, workshops, or essays, according to Doe’s attorney. No arrests were made. And the Tompkins County District Attorney stated there was “insufficient evidence” for criminal charges. Cornell confirmed the fraternity remains barred from campus. And acknowledged that defendants were offered opportunities to “mitigate their conduct.” But cited federal privacy laws in declining to disclose individual disciplinary outcomes. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/cornell-university-lawsuit-fraternity-rape-allegations/?utm_source=copilot.com

Louisiana State University (LSU) — Current Case (2025–2026)

The current LSU case involves a sophomore student, Kendall Danielle, who alleges she was raped by an LSU football player on October 18, 2025, around 4:30 a.m. She underwent a rape kit examination and later participated in LSU’s Title IX process. Which concluded that the player was responsible for rape. And suspended him for two semesters. However, he appealed and was ultimately allowed to return to campus. Resume football activities. And participate in student organizations. Despite still being found responsible.

Danielle alleges the player’s mother contacted her urging her not to pursue charges because it could harm his football career. And that the player sent her $1,000 in an attempt to keep her from pressing charges. After learning he was allowed back on campus, she went public on TikTok and subsequently filed a criminal complaint. The East Baton Rouge District Attorney has since opened a criminal investigation. They are requesting reports from LSU, LSU Police, and Baton Rouge Police. LSU maintains it followed Title IX procedures and is cooperating with law enforcement. The player has not been publicly identified. https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/crime/student-files-sexual-assault-complaint-against-lsu-football-player/289-2bfa7986-e5fe-4d24-92db-9b069888c305?utm_source=copilot.com

But let’s talk about the roots of this rot. Is it the religions that teach masturbation is sinful? Is it the purity culture that tells young people their bodies are dangerous? Is it the sermons that say touching yourself will send you to hell? Let me be clear. You will not burn in the lake of flames for using two body parts God created you to have. For God’s sake, let them masturbate. Because when you shame normal, sexual behavior, you get people like the Duggars. They were raised in sexual repression so severe it turns into predation.

Is it misogyny influencers like Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes? Men who teach boys that women are objects, property, and targets. Men who profit off hatred and call it masculinity. Or is it simply that America still refuses to teach boundaries? Still refuses to teach consent? Still refuses to teach respect?

Cornell and LSU are not anomalies. They are symptoms. Symptoms of a nation that treats sexual assault like a PR inconvenience instead of a violent crime. And when universities punish predators with essays, counseling sessions, or “reflection assignments,” they are telling victims, “Your trauma is worth less than his future.” And that is the message survivors hear every single day.

All predators no matter their status, wealth, influence, or fan base, should be held accountable. Not protected. Not excused. Not wrapped in a Bible verse and called “God’s Will.”

As a sexual assault survivor myself, I will never fully heal from the years I was assaulted. Raped sometimes daily by a man who is just like Donald Trump. I will never fully heal from the damage inflicted on me at five years old by someone who saw a child as an easy target. You will never understand that fear. And I pray you never have to.

Lift victims up. Lift survivors up. Hold predators accountable. Every single one of them. Because rape is not a mistake. It is not a misunderstanding. It is not a lapse in judgment. It is violence. It is domination. It is a choice. And America needs to stop pretending otherwise. Thanks for reading!

Affirmation: I am not what happened to me. I am what I survived. My voice is powerful. My truth is valid. And my healing is sacred.

Mike Johnson: The Speaker Who Tried to Out‑Pray Reality

“Hypocrisy is loud. But truth has a way of hollering back.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle “Oh my GOD this is terrible.” And call upon the ancestors. We’re about to talk about Speaker of the House “Moses” Mike “Grindr” Johnson. Also known as the leader of the Closetocracy. The man who somehow manages to be both the nation’s top lawmaker. And the world’s most chaotic religious plot twist. Ancestors, gather ‘round. Bring sweet tea. Bring smelling salts. Bring a fan. Because this level of hypocrisy has me sweating like a Pentecostal preacher caught in a drag brunch.

The political and religious hypocrisy in this country has gotten so loud it’s rattling the picture frames in my hallway. Somebody grab the emergency sweet tea. We’re going to talk about the kind of political behavior that makes the ancestors collectively sigh.

This is about The Speaker of the House and the Biblical‑themed, reality‑TV‑level chaos that has unfolded since he picked up that gavel. And yes, we’re using real facts. And yes we’re adding Southern sarcasm so thick you could spread it on a biscuit.

Southern translation: Sir, the Gulf of Mexico is boiling like crawfish water. This is not the time.

Light the charcoal again. Because this whole situation needs a spiritual cleansing, a sage bundle, and maybe a priest. The Speaker’s record is a masterclass in political contradiction:

  • Biblical metaphors for leadership.
  • Restrictive policies for families.
  • Attempts to overturn elections.
  • Climate denial while the South melts like a candle.
  • LGBTQIA+ scapegoating while preaching “love thy neighbor.”

It’s the kind of hypocrisy that makes Southern liberals clutch their pearls and say, “Lord, take the wheel, the whole car, and the insurance policy.” The ancestors are tired. The sweet tea is gone. And I’m officially closed for renovations due to excessive foolishness. Thanks for reading! And get out and vote.“So what do you think? Is reality being dramatic? Or is Mike “Grindr” Johnson just trying to pray the plot twist away?”

Affirmation: I stand firm in my truth, my identity, and my joy. No matter who tries to rewrite the narrative.

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Invoke the ancestors. Preferably the messy ones. The ones who show up wearing house shoes. Clutching a gas‑station fountain drink. And whispering, “You’re gonna wanna sit down for this one.”

Because today, we gather in the sacred, humid, mosquito‑infested, spiritually charged arena to praise. Roast. And spiritually hydrate the chaotic holiness that is the I’ve Had It Podcast. The only place where two white liberal women from the red MAGA plains of Oklahoma have somehow built a sanctuary for every exhausted blue‑dot soul trying to survive in a country where people still proudly drink out of Stanley cups like it’s a personality trait. Let me set the table like MeeMaw used to that is loud. And with sweet tea strong enough to dissolve enamel.

Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan aren’t just podcasters. They are the patron saints of Petty Grievances. The matriarchs of Messy Liberation. And the spiritual mothers of every liberal woman trapped in a red state. While trying not to throat‑punch someone at the grocery store.

Jennifer, the sarcastically blunt atheist queen, speaks with the kind of clarity that only comes from years of saying, “No, actually, that is stupid” out loud. She’s the type of woman who could walk into a revival tent. Sneeze. And accidentally deconstruct someone’s entire theology. On a side note I’ll also say that she is an Olympic level Pickle Ball Champion like we’ve never seen before in the history of the world.

Then there’s Pumps. Lord help us all. Pumps is a recovering evangelical, the HBIC (Head Beaver In Charge), the teeny weenieologist, the MeeMaw Meat Curtains because she is much older than Jennifer. And apparently the patron saint of Asexuality in the Bible Belt. Her last sexual encounter was somewhere around 1,000 days ago. And Jennifer multiplies that number tenfold with each episode until the math starts giving Old Testament genealogy. We’re approaching, “And on the 40,000th day, Pumps rested.”

And presiding over this circus of holy chaos is Kiley. The beautiful lesbian gaytriot producer who keeps the entire operation from combusting. She’s the glue, the duct tape, the Queer Logistics Coordinator who ensures Jennifer and Pumps don’t accidentally start a small fire while recording. She produces the hilarious fuckery with the precision of a woman who knows exactly how chaotic these two can be.

As a white liberal sarcastic woman myself from the red MAGA state of Mississippi, these ladies have become my emotional support podcast. They take the isolation of wanting equal rights for everyone. While surrounded by neighbors who think democracy is optional. And turn it into a family. A loud, hilarious politically petty family that supports all marginalized groups and stands up for democracy. Despite the red hatred swirling around them.

And let me tell you. And their nicknames for politicians? Baby, they speak fluent Southern shade. People like Donald “Cankles McTaco Tits” Trump, Moses Mike Grindr Johnson, the late Lindsey “Lady” Graham, “Big Titty” Bryon Knoem, “Smokey-eyed sociopath” JD Vance, “Lyin’” Ted Cruz, Flamboyant Jesse “Lady” Waters with Fox News, Natalie “The Bunny Boiler” Harp, Markwayne “Booster Box” Mullin, and others. I heard that recently they both spoke with Mitch “Dead Not Dead” McConnell for twenty minutes from his life support rehabilitation unit. They roast public figures with the same energy my Aunt Linda uses when she says, “I’m not saying she’s trashy. But she does own a leopard‑print Bible cover.”

They expose the closetocracy, the folks who legislate against the very community they enjoy on weekends, with surgical precision and the comedic timing only two women who have truly had it can deliver. Are they crass? Yes. Do they speak my language? Absolutely. Do they have a low tolerance for stupidity? Honey, they have a negative tolerance.

And Pumps, sweet Pumps, if she would stop vaping like she’s trying to summon a Civil War ghost, Jennifer might finally unclench. And if she would please stop pooping in Styrofoam cups like she’s conducting a science fair project, the online audience would stop peeing on ourselves from laughing. Get it together, Pumps. At least the saggin’ dragons are secured.

These women have been my morning oxygen for over a year. They are my people that are  hilarious. And, at times, inappropriate. Unfiltered. Compassionate. And petty in all the right places. If you’re a prude. Easily offended. Or still clinging to conservative Christianity where some Christians use scripture as a mascot for cruelty, this is not your ministry.

But if you’re like me a blue dot in a red state. A queer person whose family can’t quite figure out acceptance. Or someone who needs laughter more than judgment. These ladies feel like home. They are the family I needed. The humor I craved. And the reminder that democracy is worth fighting for even when surrounded by folks who think Jesus rode a dinosaur. And if island living as a blue dot in a red state is what it takes, then baby, I’ll take my new family without question.

So let me say this with the full force of my ancestors, my sass, my trauma, my cats, and my last functioning nerve. The I’ve Had It Podcast isn’t just entertainment. It’s survival. It’s community. It’s the comedic resistance movement for every marginalized person living in a state where Hobby Lobby aisles are filled with people who think equality is a threat to their throw pillows.

Jennifer, Pumps, and Kiley have built a refuge for the tired, the queer, the liberal, the fed‑up, the chronically sarcastic, and the spiritually dehydrated. They’ve given us permission to laugh at the absurdity of our political landscape. To call out hypocrisy with humor. And to find joy in the middle of a country that feels like it’s being run by people who failed eighth‑grade civics. And who ate boogers and glue but never outgrew those behaviors.

I will be a loyal gaytriot as long as these ladies are around. I will follow them into the trenches of democracy, petty grievances, and Pumps’ colon‑control journey. I will take this island living. This blue dot existence. And choose my new family without hesitation.

Thank you, ladies, for your humor, your compassion, and your unapologetic refusal to tolerate bullshit in this tumultuous time. You are the laughter that keeps us fighting. CACAW!!!! Mic dropped. Floor cracked. Humidity rising. Ancestors hollering, “That’s Right, Baby!” Thanks for reading! Please tune in every day to the I’ve Had It podcast for political news with lots of humor.

Affirmation: I honor my truth, humor, identity, and my chosen family. I choose joy. I choose community. And I choose to laugh loudly. Even in the places that try to silence me.

The Blood on Mississippi Soil: Why Silence Is No Longer an Option

“Silence is the oldest accomplice of violence. And Mississippi has been silent for far too long.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal, y’all. Because my ancestors are pacing the porch tonight. I can feel them in the humidity, the cicada buzz, and in the way the air gets thick right before a storm. They’re whispering. Tapping their feet. And shaking their heads the way old Southern aunties do when they’ve had enough of the foolishness. And Lord knows Mississippi has given us more than enough foolishness wrapped in Bible verses. Dipped in denial. And served with a side of “the South will rise again” delusion.

Because let’s tell the truth. The “Christian” community down here loves to shout about sin until it’s time to call out violence against Black bodies. Then suddenly everybody’s quiet. Clutching pearls. And humming hymns like silence is salvation. They’ll condemn a teenager’s skirt length before they condemn a system that keeps killing Black people. They’ll preach forgiveness while refusing accountability. They’ll talk about “God’s love” while ignoring the blood on their own soil. And I’m done pretending that’s holy.

Mississippi has always been a place where racism isn’t just a belief. It’s infrastructure. It’s policy. It’s tradition. It’s the foundation poured into the dirt generations ago. And too many folks still treat it like sacred ground.

And now, again, violence has come knocking at the doors of Black families. Again, the state government refuses to investigate. Again, accountability disappears when the killer is white. Again, we are told to “wait for the facts.” While the facts are buried under good ol’ boy politics and backroom handshakes.

A one-year-old Black baby was shot and killed by a white officer over diapers. Let me say that again. A baby died because a grown man with a badge felt threatened by diapers.

A Black teenage boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances. And instead of answers, we get a cover-up thicker than Delta mud. Evidence missing. Stories changing. Officials shrugging like a child’s life is just a paperwork inconvenience.

And now, a Black woman found hanging from a tree in 2026. And the state wants us to believe it’s anything other than what it looks like. Mississippi has a long, violent history with Black bodies and trees. We know what this is. We’ve seen it before. Our ancestors saw it before. And the silence from leadership is louder than any confession.

This isn’t coincidence. This isn’t isolated. This is a pattern, a legacy, and a sickness that Mississippi refuses to treat because too many people benefit from the infection. And let me tell you something. I’m old enough now to stand up and say it plainly. I’m old enough to fight for marginalized groups which include Black folks, brown folks, Indigenous folks, immigrants, and anyone who doesn’t fit the whitewashed mold Mississippi keeps trying to force us into. I’m old enough to say that I’m proud that I didn’t buy into the racist ideology that some of my own family members still cling to like it’s heirloom china.

I broke the cycle. I chose humanity over heritage. I chose truth over tradition. I chose justice over comfort. And if that makes me the black sheep at the family reunion, hand me the potato salad because I’ll graze in the pasture with pride. I’m proud to say I’m not like them. Not molded by their fear. Not shaped by their hate. Not carved into the same brittle statue of “tradition” they keep worshiping like it’s holy. I’m proud to say I crawled out of the same Mississippi clay. And still managed to grow in a different direction. And it was one that didn’t twist my roots around racism and call it heritage.

If rejecting their ideology means I lose my seat at the family table, then pull the chair out from under me. If refusing to swallow their silence means I’m no longer welcome in their church pews, then let the hymns echo without me. If choosing humanity over hypocrisy means I have to walk away from religion entirely, then I’ll walk away barefoot. Head high and unbothered.

Because I refuse to be loyal to a system that kills Black children and calls it “procedure.” I refuse to be loyal to a state that covers up Black death and calls it “ongoing investigation.” I refuse to be loyal to a community that sees a Black woman hanging from a tree and calls it “unfortunate.” I refuse to be loyal to people who hide behind scripture while ignoring suffering. I refuse to be loyal to any ideology that demands my silence while it destroys lives.

Mississippi may be built on racism. But I am not. Mississippi may cling to its racist past. But I do not. Mississippi may worship its own mythology. But I refuse to kneel. I am not like them. I will never be like them. And if breaking away from their beliefs is the cost of protecting my soul, integrity, and humanity, then that’s a price I’ll pay in full with no regrets.

Let them keep their “South will rise again” fantasies. I’m rising in a different direction. One they can’t touch. Can’t claim. And sure as hell can’t control. That’s my mic drop. And I won’t be picking it back up. Thanks for reading! What are your thoughts?

Affirmation: I honor my ancestors by refusing to repeat their pain. I stand in truth. I stand in courage. And I stand in love even when I stand alone.

A Prayer So Wild Even the Angels Clocked Out Early

“Some prayers lift the spirit. Others just lift the eyebrows.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Hide your children, your casseroles, and your common sense. Because what I witnessed at that unfortunate local Mississippi event wasn’t a prayer. It was a theological Nascar crash. And every angel in heaven refused to file the insurance claim.

Picture it. A field full of red hats bobbing like a colony of patriotic mushrooms. The air thick with humidity, Axe body spray, and generational resentment. A folding table sagging under the weight of mayonnaise‑based salads. And a speaker system held together with duct tape and denial.

Then he stepped forward. The Chosen One of the Red‑Hat Prayer Circle. A man built like a refrigerator with opinions. A man whose shirt had more eagles than the actual sky. A man who looked like he’d been baptized in Monster Energy. He grabbed the microphone like he was about to drop a mixtape called “Gospel of the Grievance.”

He clears his throat like he’s about to summon the Holy Ghost, the founding fathers, and the HOA board all at once. And then. Lord help us. He opened his mouth.

What came out was not a prayer. It was not a blessing. It was not even a coherent sentence structure. It was a spiritual Yelp review written by a man who thinks the Holy Trinity is God, Country, and Bathroom Legislation. Then he begins The Prayer. The one that made the angels file HR complaints.

“Heavenly Father. We come before you today under this blessed Mississippi sun. Which you made hotter every year to punish the radical left for their wickedness.

Lord, we know that every single problem in this world can be traced back to them. The hurricanes? The liberals. The price of eggs? The liberals. My gout flaring up last Tuesday? Father God, that was the liberals too.

And Lord, we thank you that our sins don’t count. Because we carry the “Jesus Warranty.” We swipe it like a rewards card. We sin. We repent. We sin again. And you just keep stamping that little heavenly punch card. But the liberals, Lord? Unforgivable. They are the real ones on the predatory registry. Not all the republicans. But that’s none of my business, Father.

Lord, we thank You that here in Mississippi, we stay focused on the things that matter most like genitals, bathrooms, and our loyal governor who kneels so faithfully before the Orange Messiah. He bends the knee so hard, Lord, he’s got calluses shaped like patriotism.

Father, we lift up the windmills to you. Those demonic pinwheels of destruction. They’re out there slaughtering birds. Driving whales insane. And screaming so loud they give people cancer. Lord, we know the whales are acting up because they can’t handle the noise. They’re liberals at heart, Father. Sensitive. Emotional. Always protesting something.

And Lord, we rebuke the immigrants who are coming here to eat our dogs and cats. We know this because someone’s cousin’s neighbor’s Facebook post said so. And that’s good enough for us.

Father, protect us from the left trying to make everyone gay and transgender. They’re out here handing out pronouns like coupons. Even though they say that pronouns are in the English language. And that’s also a hoax. Next thing you know, my truck’s gonna identify as a Prius.

Lord, we thank you for the brave idea of firing nuclear weapons into hurricanes. We know it would’ve worked if the deep state hadn’t interfered. We thank you for the tariffs on penguins, Father. The money is pouring in. We don’t know where from. But it’s pouring in.

We thank you for answering our prayer about gasoline. It’s the lowest it’s ever been. Even though the sign says otherwise. But we don’t read numbers. Lord numbers are liberal. We thank you for the funds for the Pedophile Patio at the White House. We don’t know what it is. But the liberals said it’s bad. So, it must really be good. And that’s enough for us.

Lord, we ask You to bless our crosses. Which absolve us of all wrongdoing. We wear them proudly, Father, even when we’re screaming at cashiers or crashing Grindr. Not that we’ve ever crashed Grindr. That was the liberals.

And Father, we rebuke the rumors about ladybugs we may or may not have contracted from Lindsey “Lady” Graham. We don’t have them. We’ve never had them. We don’t think. That’s the liberals’ fault too. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for our bathrooms. We pray for our genitals. We pray for our Orange Messiah. And we pray that you continue to forgive us instantly while holding everyone else accountable forever. In your holy, conservative, red‑hat‑approved name we pray. Amen.”

As the final “Amen” echoed across the field. Bounced off the port‑a‑potties. Ricocheting through the humidity. And startling at least three confused squirrels. I realized something profound. This wasn’t a prayer. This was a confession disguised as patriotism. A spiritual tantrum. A theological meltdown. A holy‑ghost‑free revival sponsored by conspiracy theories and lukewarm potato salad.

The red‑hat faithful walked away feeling forgiven. Justified. And spiritually moisturized. Not because they’d repented. But because they’d shouted loudly enough to drown out their own guilt. Meanwhile, the rest of us stood there blinking like we’d just witnessed a raccoon steal a wedding cake.

If delusion had a megachurch, this prayer would’ve been the keynote speaker. If hypocrisy had a hymn book, this prayer would’ve been track one. If nonsense had a national anthem, this prayer would’ve been sung at every football game.

And here’s my final word. May we all be delivered from prayers that sound like Facebook comments. May our humor stay sharp. Our queerness stay loud. And our spirits stay unbothered. And may the next local event have better food, better theology, and fewer polyester hats. Thanks for reading! And thank you for your attention to this matter. Praise Be To Allah!

Affirmation: I stand rooted in truth, humor, and queer resilience. No amount of red‑hat chaos can shake my spirit or dim my brilliance.

International Overdose Awareness Day: The Day We Stop Pretending Willpower Is Medicine

“Shame has never saved a life. Compassion has. And still can.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Today, we’re not just cleansing the house. We’re cleansing the collective delusion that addiction is a moral failing. The sage is smoking like it’s trying to file a worker’s comp claim. The charcoal is popping like it’s gossiping about the neighbors. And I’m standing in the kitchen with the kind of determination usually reserved for Southern women who’ve had enough.

Piper struts in first.Tail high. Eyes narrowed. And a clipboard already out like she’s conducting a federal audit.

Piper: “Before we begin. I need to know if this is a cleansing ritual, a public dragging, or a memorial service. My paperwork differs.”

Me: “All three. It’s International Overdose Awareness Day. And I’m about to educate the masses.”

Coco barrels in next. She’s breathing heavily like she just ran a marathon but actually just walked from the living room.

Coco: “Is this about the humans who say addiction is willpower? And overdose is a moral collapse? I once ate an entire rotisserie chicken while sleepwalking. Explain that with willpower.”

Tinkerbell descends from the top of the fridge like a Victorian ghost who died of judgment.

Tinkerbell: “If willpower cured anything, half this household would stop doomscrolling at 2 AM. And the other half would stop emotionally eating Cheez-Its.”

Me: “Exactly. We’re dragging ignorance today.”

Piper adjusts her glasses. The glasses she does not need and sighs.

Piper: “I’ll prepare the minutes. This meeting is already chaotic.”

International Overdose Awareness Day started in 2001 as a remembrance event at a Salvation Army needle exchange in Melbourne, Australia. It was created to honor those lost. Reduce stigma around overdose. And to push the world to stop treating overdose like a shameful secret instead of a public health crisis. And let me say this plainly, with all the Southern sweetness of a peach cobbler baked in righteous fury, “Addiction and overdose are not moral issues.” And it’s not about willpower.

The next time you have diarrhea, keep in mind that it’s just willpower. Sit there with a Bible verse and see if the situation resolves itself. Let me know how that works out. That’s how ludicrous that argument is.

People don’t become addicts because they’re weak, sinful, lazy, or lacking character. Many addicts die wanting anything in life other than to be an addict. They die fighting. They die trying. They die hoping. But some folks, including people in my own family, love to say, “Addiction is about willpower.” It never has been. It never will be.

I’ve been an addict. I’ve been a professional treating addicts. I’ve buried friends. I’ve buried family. Not once have I judged them for their struggle. But the hypocrites in my life? The ones who claim moral superiority while ingesting alcohol at a rate that Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel struggle to keep up with? Hypocrite, please.

Overdose is an unfortunate part of addiction. Whether it’s chemicals, behaviors, or the slow-motion self-destruction people pretend “doesn’t count.” Because it’s socially acceptable. So how about we stop demonizing people who overdose while absolving ourselves of our own harmful, numbing, escapist overdoses?

If we’re being honest, some folks overdose on alcohol, self-righteousness, denial, Amazon Prime, gossip, rage, food, religion, and control. But somehow that doesn’t get labeled as a moral failure. Funny how selective morality works.

And here’s the truth that makes some folks squirm like they sat on a church pew with a splinter. Overdose doesn’t happen because someone is weak. It happens because someone is human. Humans who loved. Humans who tried. Humans who fought battles most people couldn’t survive for five minutes. Humans who deserved compassion instead of commentary.

But every year, we lose more people. Not because they were broken. But because the world still treats addiction and overdose like a character flaw instead of a medical condition. We lose them because shame is louder than science. Because judgment is easier than empathy. Because some folks would rather cling to their superiority complex than admit they don’t know a damn thing about what they’re talking about.

So on International Overdose Awareness Day, I’m lighting this charcoal. Sprinkling this sage. And saying this with my whole chest, “Stop demonizing the people who are drowning while you’re out here drinking from your own poison well. Stop pretending your socially acceptable overdoses are any less destructive just because they come with a cute, monogrammed tumbler or a Bible verse slapped on top. Stop acting like overdose is a choice when half the people judging can’t even choose to drink water or go to bed on time. And most importantly, start honoring the people we’ve lost by refusing to let stigma bury the living.

The dead deserve dignity. The living deserve compassion. And the ignorant deserve education. Loud, unapologetic, Southern‑fried education. Today, I’m choosing truth over tradition. Compassion over comfort. And humanity over hypocrisy. If that makes some folks uncomfortable? Good. Growth never happens in comfort. And comfort has never saved a single life. But truth might. Compassion might. You might. Thanks for reading! Share this with others.

Affirmation: I honor the lives lost. Uplift the living. And refuse to let stigma speak louder than truth.
