Family Season: When Blood Isn’t Thicker Than Boundaries

“Family is not defined by the people who share your history. But by the ones who choose to share your future.”

–This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Invoke the ancestors. Because Lord knows November rolls in like a slow‑moving gospel choir humming “family, family, family.” While half the folks you share with are out here auditioning for the role of Bigoted Cousin #3 in a low‑budget political drama nobody asked for. Every November, I feel that familiar tug of that reminder that this month is supposed to be about gathering, gratitude, and the warmth of people who love you. But sometimes, the people who share your last name don’t share your humanity. And when the world gets loud with political tension, when folks cling to racist and homophobic ideologies like they’re heirlooms instead of harmful beliefs, I choose peace. I choose softness. I choose my real family. The ones who accept me without conditions which are my kids and my cats.

And honestly? My life is better because of it. Boundaries are holy. Boundaries are medicine. Boundaries are the quiet “amen” whispered under your breath when you finally walk away from what hurts.

Now listen. November in Mississippi hits different. The air gets crisp. The leaves get dramatic. And every grocery store starts smelling like cinnamon, guilt, and casseroles. Folks start posting on Facebook about “family values.” Which is code for “I’m about to ruin Thanksgiving with a political rant nobody asked for.”

Meanwhile, I’m over here stirring my sweet tea. Minding my business. And thanking the Lord above that I don’t have to sit at a table with people who think diversity is a threat. And empathy is a conspiracy.

And let me tell you something. I have found more unconditional love in the eyes of my children. And the judgmental side‑eye of my cats than I have ever found in certain branches of my family tree. And that tree? Honey, it’s got termites. It’s leaning. It’s one strong breeze away from collapsing on the neighbor’s shed.

My cats Piper, Coco, and Tinkerbell don’t care for whom I vote. Who I love. Or what I believe. They only care about snacks, naps, and whether I’m available to provide emotional support at 3 AM when they decide to reenact The Lion King on my chest. My kids? They’re my heart walking around in two little bodies. They’re my real legacy. They’re the ones who remind me that family is built, not assigned.

And November, with all its cozy expectations, has taught me this. Sometimes the most radical act of self‑love is choosing who gets to sit at your table. Even if that table ends up being you, your kids, and three cats who think they pay rent.

November may be branded as the “family month.” But I’ve learned that sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is step back from the people who claim to love you while actively voting against your existence. I’ve learned that peace doesn’t come from pretending everything’s fine at a dinner table full of folks who think their bigotry is a personality trait. Peace comes from choosing who gets access to you. And who doesn’t.

The moment I stopped trying to twist myself into a shape that made certain relatives comfortable, my whole spirit exhaled. I stopped shrinking. I stopped apologizing. I stopped explaining why my humanity is not up for debate.

Instead, I leaned into the family I built. The ones who show up with love instead of lectures. My kids remind me daily that joy is loud and healing is possible. My cats act like tiny furry ancestors perched on the back of the couch. And judging anyone who dares disturb my peace. My home feels warmer without the cold front of intolerance blowing through it.

And here’s the truth that might sting for some folks. I don’t miss the chaos. I don’t miss the tension. I don’t miss the performative “we’re family” speeches from people who wouldn’t cross the street to understand me. My life is softer now. My holidays are calmer. My November is mine. Not theirs.

So, if anyone feels some type of way about my boundaries, my choices, or the fact that I’d rather spend Thanksgiving with my kids and three cats who think they’re the landlords of my living room? Well, bless their hearts. Because I’m done dimming my light to make someone else’s darkness feel comfortable. I’m done pretending that “family” automatically means loyalty. I’m done letting people weaponize “family” like it’s a leash.

This November, I’m choosing truth. I’m choosing joy. I’m choosing the family that chooses me back. And if that ruffles feathers, let them flutter. If that shakes tables, let them wobble. If that shuts mouths, let them stay shut. Because the only people who get a seat at my table are the ones who know how to love without conditions. And that is the kind of family value they can’t legislate, silence, or take away. Mic dropped. Charcoal still burning. Ancestors smiling. Thanks for reading! What does November mean for you currently?

Affirmation: I honor the family I create. The boundaries I set. And the peace I protect.

National Cat Day According to Piper, Coco, and Tinkerbell

“Cats don’t need National Cat Day. They already celebrate themselves daily.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Hide the breakables. Because on National Cat Day, my three furry dependents, Piper, Coco, and Tinkerbell, believe they are entitled to diplomatic immunity, tax-free treats, and a parade down the hallway complete with confetti made from shredded toilet paper. My household has already turned into a feline-led congressional hearing with zero decorum and unlimited snacks.

I woke up this morning thinking, “Let’s celebrate my cats.” My cats woke up thinking, “Let’s overthrow the government.” Check out our conversation.

Me: Alright, y’all. It’s National Cat Day. Let’s act right.

Piper: (leans in like she’s about to deliver breaking news) “I’ll act right when you act right.”

Coco: “I would like to file a grievance.”

Tinkerbell: “I would like a sunbeam, a soft blanket, and silence.”

Me: “What’s the grievance, Coco?”

Coco: “You breathed too loud this morning. It disrupted my REM cycle.”

Piper: “And you moved the pillow on the couch. Without consulting the board.”

Tinkerbell: “I don’t care about any of this. I just want my treats delivered away from these two feral raccoons.”

Me: “It’s National Cat Day. Can we please celebrate peacefully?”

Piper: “I need to call the family therapist.”

Me: “For what?”

Piper: “For the trauma of living with you.”

Coco: “And for the trauma of living with Piper.”

Tinkerbell: “And for the trauma of thunder.”

Me: “Can we at least take a cute picture for National Cat Day?”

Piper: “I don’t perform for free.”

Coco: “I need a contract.”

Tinkerbell: “I’ll do it if you promise Coco won’t breathe on me.”

Me: “Fine. Let’s just celebrate. I’ll give y’all extra treats.”

Piper: “I want mine plated.”

Coco: “I want mine thrown like confetti.”

Tinkerbell: “I want mine delivered like room service at a five-star spa.”

Me: “Y’all are exhausting.”

Piper: “And yet… you adore us.”

Coco: “You’re welcome.”

Tinkerbell: “Bless your heart.”

And that, my friends, is how National Cat Day goes in my house: Piper calling emergency press conferences about absolutely nothing. Coco filing grievances like she works for HR in Hell. Tinkerbell floating through the chaos like a tiny feline Brene Brown who has transcended earthly nonsense.

I tried to celebrate them. They celebrated themselves. I tried to honor them. They honored their own drama. I tried to give them treats. They demanded reparations. So here’s my official National Cat Day statement: I live with three furry dictators who run this house like a chaotic Southern monarchy, and I wouldn’t trade them for all the peace, quiet, and sanity in the world. Let the ancestors deal with the rest. Thanks for reading!

Affirmation: I honor the chaos. Embrace the fur. And accept that my cats are the landlords and I am simply the tenant.

A Front‑Porch Warning for America’s Midterms

“Democracy is not a spectator sport. It’s a full‑contact commitment.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Call the ancestors. Because we’re gonna need every last one of them for these midterms.

Down here in the Deep South where humidity clings harder than your ex. And porch swings know more secrets than Congress. You can feel something shifting. The air is thick. Not just with Mississippi heat. But with the weight of a democracy that’s been limping like it stepped in a gopher hole.

And let me tell you something with my whole chest. Voting is not just a right. It’s a ritual. A responsibility. A sacred act the founding fathers carved into the bones of this nation. But lately? Lord help us. Some folks in power seem more interested in scaring people out of voting than encouraging them to show up. Some communities report intimidation at polling places. Some voters say they’re being misled or discouraged. Some watchdog groups warn that certain officials are using fear, confusion, or pressure to shape who shows up and who stays home. And whether it’s intentional or incompetence, the result is the same. Democracy shrinks when people are scared to speak.

Now, I’m not here to tell you for whom to vote. That’s your business. Your ancestors’ business. And the ballot box’s business. But let me be clear with the same fire my grandmother used when she warned us not to play in the storm. Some Americans believe our country is under threat from leaders who lean toward authoritarian behavior. Leaders who seem more interested in consolidating power than protecting rights. More invested in silencing critics than uplifting citizens. And whether you agree with that perspective or not, one truth stands tall like a magnolia in July. It is up to “We the People” to decide the direction of this nation. When any government, any regime, any official, any leader uses tactics that make people afraid to participate, that’s a crack in the foundation of democracy itself.

And honey, we don’t let cracks spread in this house. We patch. We reinforce. We rebuild with grit, grace, and a little bit of Southern spite. Because our ancestors didn’t survive wars, depressions, pandemics, and politicians with questionable hairlines just for us to sit home on Election Day saying, “Well, I’m tired.” No ma’am. No sir.

Voting is how we honor every ancestor who couldn’t. Voting is how we protect every child who will. Voting is how we remind the powerful that the people are the ones holding the receipts. So, when you walk into that polling place, imagine your great‑grandmother walking beside you. Her hand on your shoulder and whispering, “Baby, don’t let them silence you.” Imagine the sage smoke curling around your ankles like armor. Imagine the charcoal glowing like the fire in your spirit. And then vote like democracy depends on it. Because it does. This midterm isn’t just an election. It’s a pulse check on America. And we damn sure aren’t letting her flatline. Thanks for reading! And get out and vote!

Affirmation: I stand in my power. I honor my ancestors. My vote is my voice, and my voice will not be silenced.

The Liberal Emergency Response Team And The Great American Deprogramming

“Democracy isn’t fragile. It’s just tired of babysitting people who think freedom means ‘no rules and unlimited queso.’”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. No, seriously. Light it. We’re starting this event with an emergency rush on the ancestors. Because we need every last one of them to help keep the bad spirits of fascist nonsense and red‑hat ignorance at bay. We’re talking about the auntie ancestors, queer ancestors, feminist ancestors, ancestors who died fighting for democracy. The ancestors who died fighting for seasoning. And the ancestors who died because someone said, “Let’s try essential oils instead of antibiotics.” We call upon them all.

AAs the charcoal smolders, a volunteer in a rainbow caftan rings a bell and announces, “Spirits of democracy, please protect us from the unseasoned forces of authoritarianism.” The smoke rises. The glitter falls. The ancestors nod. The red hats tremble. Welcome to the Right Side of History Liberal Event.

You’ve escaped the cult. You’ve shed the cloud of “trad wife obedience.” You’ve arrived at color, clarity, and community. Everyone is welcome except fascists, racists, homophobes, authoritarian fanboys, and anyone who thinks God needs a hype man. Unity only. Diversity only. Humanity only.

If you brought your children be warned that members of current red hat cult members will likely show up. If you see them please keep your children close. As they are not to be trusted around minors and non-consenting adults.

The Drag Queen Hospitality Committee greet newcomers with seven‑foot wigs. Eyelashes visible from orbit. And clipboards labeled “Mandatory Fabulousness Audit.” If you don’t have glitter on you by noon, they’ll fix that.

The Furry Outreach Program (Now With Litter Boxes!) run hydration. Yes, they brought litter boxes. No, they are not for what conspiracy theorists think. The litter boxes are full of tip jars, snack containers, glitter disposal units, and one labeled “Authoritarian Tears Only.”

The Tran Joy Department volunteers assemble Gender Euphoria Starter Kits with a coupon for one moment of pure self-love. Affirmation stickers. Glitter blessed by trans elders. And a laminated card that says, “You’re doing amazing!” Joy is happening. Mind your business.

The Women’s Rights & Feminist Liberation Zone is a welcome to the area where abortion is healthcare. Not a sin. Contraception is a right. Feminism is mandatory. And yes, trans women are women. They will have a large sign that reads, “Those Who Carry The Water For The Patriarchy Will Be The First To Drown.” You will leave this area transformed. You will leave with a spine. You will leave with a voice. You will leave with a refusal to ever shrink again. This area is where patriarchy comes to die.

Teachers’ Lounge: Politically Upgraded Teachers cannot perform surgeries.
But they can teach, inspire, protect, and survive chaos daily. A rainbow flag will be replacing the 10 Commandments. And they will have a sign reading, “We teach love, not indoctrination.”

Immigrant Welcome Station Snacks from all cultures will be represented. And a sign reading, “You’re Safe Here.” And a volunteer sheet titled, “Teach Americans to Season Food.” If you are still active in the red hat brigade, you will be given a saltine cracker and two pieces of white bread. And the meat will be local roadkill. You can flavor it with Treason Seasoning. And we have you some special water taken from the AI data centers that you voted for. Don’t worry about the color or the floaters. Those are the precious minerals shipped in directly from Greenland.

The Black Community Appreciation Corner will feature a DJ spinning tracks white liberals pretend they already knew. A BLM flag flying proudly. A suggestion box labeled “Stop Doing This.” And a sign reading, “Thank You For Carrying Democracy, Again.”

The Veterans Honor Hall is an area run by veterans who have decided they’re done watching democracy get treated like a clearance‑rack item at Dollar General. And the energy of “I fought for this country. Not for fascist cosplay.” It’s for those who fought for democracy. Who served with honor. And those who protected freedoms we still fight for today. Leading the charge are the most vocal veterans such as:

  • Rig Madden-retired, loud, and allergic to authoritarianism.
  • Gunny Speaks Out-former Marine, current menace to injustice. Who rides around on his motorcycle with a “Fuck Trump” flag and resistance music blaring.

·      Jolly Good Ginger– is the veteran who laughs like a Scottish war drum. Has a beard that could legally vote. Carries a laminated copy of the Constitution like it’s a Pokémon card. Says things like “I didn’t fight for this country so y’all could turn it into a Hobby Lobby fever dream.” And ends every speech with, “Liberate. And don’t let fascism dry out your soul.” He is the one who organizes the Veteran Oath Refresher Course. Where veterans loudly remind active military and Congress, “Your oath wasn’t a suggestion.” He’s also the unofficial hype man of the most infamous protest in veteran history Operation: Dildo Blitz. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CTJ4uY7U2/?mibextid=wwXIfr

It was a peaceful but unforgettable protest against ICE, where participants threw rubber dildos while yelling, “F*** ICE!” Jolly Good Ginger described it as, “The most patriotic thing I’ve seen since boot camp. A direct hit to injustice, literally. The Founding Fathers would’ve been confused. But proud.”

Veterans stood shoulder‑to‑shoulder, reminding America that patriotism is not a hat. Democracy is not a prop. And civil disobedience is sometimes best delivered with comedic precision. This zone is loud. Proud. And ready to defend democracy with megaphones, constitutional literacy, and Jolly Good Ginger’s battle cry, “Democracy doesn’t run on vibes. It runs on us.” Their mission is simply to remind active military of their oath. Remind Congress of their oath. And to remind America that patriotism is not a truck decal. And that democracy is not optional.

Holy Water Countermeasures include actions for if red‑hat evangelicals spray holy water, we respond with a Blue Tsunami of democracy. Followed by a rainbow mist. And a pamphlet titled, “Diversity Isn’t Persecution.”

Special Guests for the ‘Welcome to the Right Side of History’ Event include people like Robert De Niro, Pink, Meryl Streep, Barbra Streisand, Jelly Roll, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. They’re here to give speeches. And remind everyone that democracy is sexier than authoritarianism.

Grindr Crash Zone. About an hour away, there’s a meet‑up area where the red hat attendees will be on Grindr. Get there early. The servers will absolutely crash.

Cracker Barrel Takeover. After the protest, we march as a colorful, accepting liberal mob into Cracker Barrel.Changes include gender‑neutral bathrooms, pride‑painted rocking chairs, vegan menu options, banned historical books on the mantle. Rainbow socks replacing Confederate décor. Drag queens seat you. Furries host. Lesbians fix the chairs. And trans men and women reorganize the store by color gradient.

Welcome to liberalism. Welcome to color. Welcome to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Welcome to clarity. Welcome to community. Welcome to This Puzzled Life. Grab a latte. Grab a banned book. Grab a pair of pearls. Because some red hat is going to need to clutch them.

And so, as we stand here with charcoal lit. Ancestors summoned. Glitter airborne. Veterans yelling at Congress like disappointed uncles at Thanksgiving. Drag queens adjusting their wigs for aerodynamic resistance. Trans men and women with radical authenticity. And furries hydrating democracy one juice box at a time.

Let it be known that we are not the storm. We are the entire weather system. We are the Blue Tsunami. We are the ones that shows up with banned books, civil rights, science, seasoning, and a reusable water bottle covered in stickers that make red hats sweat. We are the people who read. We are the people who vote. We are the people who know the difference between patriotism and cosplay. We are the people who will not be silenced, dimmed, or dehydrated.

Because the next time fascism knocks, we’re answering the door with a drag queen, a veteran, a furry, a lesbian with a tool belt. A trans person with a megaphone. And a choir of liberals singing “Not Today, Satan.” Mic dropped. Stage cleared. Democracy moisturized. Ignorance denied. Amen and pass the seasoning. Thanks for reading! And Resist Fascism!

Affirmation: I am calm. I am grounded. I am glitter‑coated. And I am fully prepared to defend democracy with humor, humanity, and a hydration pack.

Epstein Files: The Scandal They’d Rather Burn the Country Down Than Admit

“When a nation protects its predators more fiercely than its people, the collapse isn’t coming. It’s already here.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Burn the sage like we’re trying to smoke out every demon from the last seven administrations. Today, we’re cooking up a truth so blistering it might peel the paint off the Capitol dome. Invoke every ancestor available. The loud, petty, and the ones who still whisper “bless your heart” like a threat. I’m calling on Big Mama, PawPaw, Aunt Loretta with the wandering eye. And that one ancestor who definitely hexed a Confederate colonel in 1863. Bring them all. We need every ounce of ancestral horsepower because America has officially entered its “What in the absolute hell?” era The nation has gone full fever‑dream and nobody seems interested in waking up.

The Epstein Files, the ones we were told were “handled,” “investigated,” “classified,” “lost,” “oops,” and “don’t worry about it,” are being buried deeper than my will to live during tax season. Meanwhile, the government is out here juggling disasters like a drunk circus clown with a head injury. Healthcare? A dumpster fire. Bodily autonomy? On clearance. Gas prices? Astronomical. White nationalism and Christian nationalism? Thriving like mold in a Mississippi bathroom. And selective compassion? It’s the new national pastime. So, pull up a chair. Pour a drink. Hug your cats. Because this blog is about to be the emotional, sarcastic, ancestor‑approved scream into the void we all need.

The Epstein Files is the radioactive scandal our government keeps trying to bury under “Look! A shiny distraction!” The cover‑up is so blatant it’s practically a national sport. Billionaires with more skeletons than a Halloween aisle are suddenly moral authorities. While lecturing the rest of us as they scramble to hide their names from a list that should’ve detonated the entire political landscape.

And while they’re busy protecting predators, the rest of us are out here trying to survive a healthcare system held together with duct tape, prayer, and expired Band‑Aids. People can’t afford insulin. But Ghislane Maxwell is in a cushy prison doing yoga. Playing with puppies. Which she shouldn’t have access to. Because what if she had a torturous, sexual urge? And living her best “Namaste for trafficking children” life. Make it make sense.

Bodily autonomy? Gone. Women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, trans healthcare are all tossed into the shredder. While politicians smile like they just won a church raffle. Gas prices? Higher than a Pentecostal soprano hitting a praise note. White nationalism and Christian nationalism? They’ve fused into one giant casserole of “Jesus told me to be hateful.”

Immigrants, Black communities, Muslim families, LGBTQ+ folks are all targeted with cruelty so intentional it should come with a warning label. Compassion is now selective. Morality is performative. And empathy is apparently a luxury item.

Gerrymandering has turned voting maps into abstract art. Free speech is evaporating faster than my patience. Gun rights remain sacred. Gun violence remains ignored. And our veterans, again, are abandoned like last year’s Christmas decorations.

Climate change is catastrophic. The planet is screaming. And the government is like, “Have you tried recycling?” Our food and health safety are controlled by what I can only describe as roadkill science. That have regulations written by people who think salmonella, E.coli, botulism, listeria, and cyclospora is a seasoning.

And the FBI and DOJ? They are busy targeting political enemies. While apparently deciding that bestiality is no longer disqualifying for employment. I’m sorry, what? Who approved that? Who signed the paperwork? Who looked at that and said, “Seems fine.”

And because the chaos buffet wasn’t full enough, we’re now in a war with a country that didn’t even have nuclear weapons. Add the genocide of millions of Palestinians is being  justified with the emotional range of a cold french fry. And now you have an administration accused of torturing and sexually abusing children. While billionaires desperately trying to avoid accountability. All of this is to protect predators.

What in the absolute hell is going on in our nation? The ancestors are pacing. The cats are side‑eyeing. The sage is burning like a bonfire. And America is acting like a reality show produced by Satan. And sponsored by generational trauma.

So here we are. Standing knee‑deep in a nation that feels like it was written by a drunk screenwriter who got fired from Black Mirror for being “too unrealistic.” A country where billionaires accused of sexual abuse get treated like endangered wildlife. While the rest of us are out here duct‑taping our sanity together with expired coupons and prayer.

The Epstein Files should’ve cracked the sky open. They should’ve been the reckoning. The purge. And the moment the powerful finally faced consequences. Instead, they were folded. Spindled. Mutilated. Redacted. Buried. Shredded. Re‑shredded. And then sprinkled with holy water and lies. And we’re told to “move on.” While the same people who covered it up lecture us about morality like they didn’t spend half their careers on private jets to private islands.

Selective compassion is the new national religion. AI is poisoning truth and our health faster than you can say “deepfake.” Climate change is screaming like a tornado siren. Free speech is shrinking. Gun violence is shrugged off. And our food safety is being overseen by people who think “roadkill science” is a legitimate discipline.

We’re in a war with a country that didn’t have nuclear weapons. Millions of Palestinians are dead in a genocide the world keeps trying to explain away with PR statements and selective outrage. And all of this is being justified by an administration of billionaires who treat accountability like it’s a contagious disease.

So let me say this plainly. If a nation will burn its people, its planet, its freedoms, its truth, its morality, and its future just to protect predators, then the predators were never the problem. The system that worships them is.

This isn’t chaos. This isn’t incompetence. This isn’t accidental. This is what happens when corruption becomes culture. When cruelty becomes currency. When power becomes religion. When accountability becomes myth.

And ‘We The People’ who still feel. Still care. Still fight. Still scream. And still hope. Are left standing in the ashes asking, “What in the absolute hell is going on in our nation?” They only get away with this because they’re terrified of what happens when we stop being quiet. Terrified of what happens when we stop accepting crumbs. Terrified of what happens when we stop believing their distractions. Terrified of what happens when we remember our power. Terrified of what happens when we refuse to let predators write the story.

Because the truth is this. A nation built on lies can only survive if the people stay silent. A nation built on injustice can only thrive if the people stay afraid. A nation built on cruelty can only endure if the people stop caring. And we are not silent. We are not afraid. We are not done. Because the reckoning isn’t coming. It’s already awake. Thanks for reading! And vote the predators out!

Affirmation: I stand in truth even when the world tries to bury it. I honor justice even when power hides from it. I call on my ancestors, my courage, and my voice. Because silence is no longer an option.

Kash Patel And The Bureau Of Shenanigans

“When the government starts acting like a fever dream, the ancestors start drinking early.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. The ancestors just pulled up in a cloud of dust wearing house shoes. And carrying folding chairs like they’re about to attend the world’s most chaotic family reunion. Great‑Grandma Magnolia already has her wig tilted forward like a football helmet. She whispered, “Lord, give us strength. The government done gone stupid again.” And today’s topic of foolishness? A little man I’m legally required to refer to as “Kash Patel, Director of the Federal Bureau of Shenanigans.”

Kash Patel is a figure who has been involved in everything from Pentagon shake‑ups to classified document drama. And baby, the ancestors have receipts. But for the sake of satire, we’re talking about Kash Patel. Who runs the Federal Bureau of Shenanigans like it’s a yard sale run by raccoons.

His girlfriend, bless her patriotic delusion, believes she’s the greatest country music superstar in American history. Despite performing exclusively at vape shops, livestock auctions, and one unfortunate wedding where she sang a breakup song during the vows.

And under Kash Patel’s leadership, the Bureau has apparently decided that bestiality is no longer a disqualifying behavior for employment. Unless of course you were trafficked into it. In which case they give you a commemorative challenge coin, and a pamphlet titled “So You Survived Government Hiring Practices.”

Meanwhile, the Epstein Files remain locked up tighter than a Baptist grandmother’s liquor cabinet. The ancestors are confused. The cats are confused. Hell, even the potholes in Washington are confused. So, let’s break down the 10‑layer fuckery cake that is the United States government in 2026.

1. The Bureau of Patriotism Pageants

Kash crowns his girlfriend “Miss Constitutional Rights” every Thursday at 3 PM.

2. The Department of Bestiality Background Checks

Their slogan: “If you didn’t choose it, you’re hired!”

3. The Office of Epstein File Origami

Where classified documents are folded into swans, cranes, and one suspicious paper donkey.

4. The Committee on Imaginary Threats

They meet weekly to discuss invisible drones, psychic warfare, and rumors started by raccoons.

5. The Federal Karaoke Initiative

Kash’s girlfriend performs her hit single “My Man Loves America (And Also Himself)” at every staff meeting.

6. The National Gaslighting Association

Their motto: “If you saw it, no you didn’t.”

7. The Department of Homeland Insecurity

Every employee has anxiety, a vape addiction, and a side hustle selling patriotic bath bombs.

8. The Bureau of Unnecessary Shirtlessness

Kash insists all male agents remove their shirts “for morale.”

9. The Office of Democracy Dismantling

Their agenda:

  • Step 1: Confuse everyone
  • Step 2: Profit
  • Step 3: Blame immigrants

10. The Federal Council of ‘What in the Hell Is Happening?’

This one is just the ancestors sitting in lawn chairs. Drinking sweet tea. And screaming into the void.

By the time we finished unpacking Kash Patel’s Bureau of Shenanigans, the ancestors were already pacing the porch like they were waiting on a tornado or a cheating husband. Great‑Grandma Magnolia had her Bible open to whatever chapter deals with plagues, fools, and men who think they’re important. Because let’s be honest. America has survived segregation, prohibition, Y2K, the Tide Pod era, the rise and fall of MySpace, and every Florida Man headline ever written. We can damn sure survive Kash Patel and his Bureau of Shenanigans. But Lord. it’s getting close.

The cats have started holding nightly strategy meetings. Piper is drawing escape routes on the wall with a crayon. Coco is practicing her “I told y’all” speech for when democracy finally taps out. Tinkerbell is polishing her crystal ball like she’s preparing for the season finale of America.

Meanwhile, the ancestors are whispering, “This ain’t what we marched for. Somebody go unplug the government and plug it back in. Tell that man to sit down before we come down there ourselves.” Kash is out here treating democracy like a clearance rack at Dollar General by grabbing things. Breaking things. Rearranging things. And insisting he’s “helping.”

His Bureau of Shenanigans runs on expired Red Bull, conspiracy theories, and whatever patriotic glitter his girlfriend buys at Hobby Lobby. And the rest of us are just trying to keep the republic from slipping on a banana peel and falling into the abyss.

But here’s the truth. America may be exhausted. Confused. And spiritually dehydrated. But we are still here. Still loud. Still petty. Still lighting the charcoal and calling on the ancestors when the government starts acting like a fever dream.

And when Kash finally trips over his own nonsense and democracy staggers back into the room like, “Whew, what did I miss?” We’ll be ready with sweet tea, sarcasm, and a fresh pair of emotional support house shoes. Charcoal smoldering. Ancestors dismissed. Democracy side‑eyeing everyone. Thanks for reading! And let’s vote them all out.

Affirmation: I am grounded. I am aware. And I refuse to let clowns dismantle my democracy.

Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration: Halloween Edition in 1980s Style

“If chaos had a costume, it’d show up wearing shoulder pads. Smelling like burnt popcorn. And insisting everything’s ‘under control.’ Bless its heart.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. And call upon the ancestors. Specifically Big Mama, who once banished a possum from her porch using nothing but a flip‑flop and the power of prayer. Because it’s Halloween season in Deep South Mississippi. And we need every spiritual reinforcement available to cope with this current administration. I’m not naming names. I’m just saying the vibes are giving “haunted VCR that eats tapes,” and the ancestors are tired. So gather ‘round the fire, clutch your candy corn like it’s a stress ball, and let’s talk about Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration: Halloween Edition in 1980s Style.

Before we get to this list, let me set the scene properly. Picture me standing in my kitchen. Wearing neon‑orange leg warmers. Holding a pumpkin‑spice latte that tastes like regret. And staring at the news like it’s a possessed Speak & Spell from 1985. The ancestors are pacing. The cats are judging. And I’m over here thinking, “You know what? I trust the ghost living in my attic. The one who only communicates by rearranging my Tupperware. Which is  more than whatever this administration is doing.”

It’s Halloween season. The veil is thin. The vibes are chaotic. And the spirits are whispering, “Make a list, baby. Make a list before you lose your religion.” So with full Southern sass. 1980s hairspray confidence. And the emotional support of three extremely opinionated cats. Let’s get into the things I trust more than this current administration. Hold onto your britches. It’s about to get spooky.

10 Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration

(with commentary from Piper, Coco, and Tinkerbell)

  1. A 1987 Ouija board I bought at a yard sale from a woman named Earlene who swore it only summoned “friendly spirits and one confused raccoon.”

Piper: “I’d trust the raccoon. He seems organized.”

  1. The structural integrity of a mall fountain after 400 unsupervised Gen X kids threw pennies, gum, and possibly a Walkman into it.

Coco: “Honestly, that fountain had grit. Unlike some folks.”

  1. The last slice of pizza from ShowBiz Pizza Place that’s been sitting under the heat lamp since Reagan was in office.

Tinkerbell: “It’s aged like fine wine. Government? Not so much.”

  1. A haunted Teddy Ruxpin whose batteries died in 1989 but still whispers “Hey there, friend…” at 3 AM.

Piper: “At least he’s consistent.”

  1. The neighborhood witch who sells ‘love potions’ out of her trunk behind the Piggly Wiggly.

Coco: “She’s never lied to me. Can’t say that about everybody.”

  1. The ghost of every VHS tape that got eaten alive by a VCR and now roams the earth seeking revenge.

Tinkerbell: “Justice for The NeverEnding Story.”

  1. A bowl of mystery candy corn that’s been in your grandma’s crystal dish since 1982 and has the texture of sidewalk chalk.

Piper: “I’d eat it before I’d trust them.”

  1. The clown from the 1986 Halloween carnival who smelled like Marlboros and existential dread.

Coco: “He had a plan. A weird plan, but a plan.”

  1. The demon that lived in your old Lite-Brite and rearranged the pegs at night.

Tinkerbell: “At least he was creative.”

  1. The spirit of every cat who has ever knocked something off a counter just to assert dominance.

All three cats in unison: “We understand leadership.”

Listen. If the ancestors wanted to send us a sign, they’d probably use a malfunctioning 1980s smoke machine, a neon‑green goblin, and a cassette tape labeled “DO NOT PLAY.” And honestly? I’d trust that whole production more than whatever this administration is doing on any given Tuesday.

Halloween teaches us many things. Don’t split up. Don’t investigate the noise. Don’t trust a politician who couldn’t find Mississippi on a map if you drew a big ol’ arrow and wrote “Right Here, Sugar.”

As my Aunt Loretta always said, “If the devil shows up wearing a Members Only jacket, at least you know he’s committed to a look.”

Now go forth and light your sage. Pet your cats like they’re furry emotional support therapists who accept payment in treats and gossip. And remember. If things get too spooky, too chaotic, or too reminiscent of a malfunctioning 1980s government PSA, just channel your inner final girl. I’m talking BIG hair, bigger attitude, and the kind of confidence only found in someone who survived a haunted roller rink. And still made it to homeroom on time.

Strut right past the chaos like you’ve got backstage passes to a Def Leppard concert. A fresh can of Aqua Net in your purse. And the ancestors cheering you on from the spiritual bleachers yelling, “That’s My Baby!”

Because when the world gets wild, you don’t crumble. You sashay. You sparkle. You stomp through the nonsense like you’re wearing rhinestone‑covered Reeboks. And the devil himself owes you money. And if anyone or anything tries to rattle your peace? Just give them that classic Southern side‑eye that says, “Bless your heart. But not today.”

Affirmation: I walk in humor, protection, and high‑volume 1980s confidence. No earthly foolishness can shake my spirit, my peace, or my hair.

The Kids Are in Cages And Some Americans Are Cheering

“A society that traumatizes its children cannot call itself free. It can only call itself unfinished.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. If we’re going to talk about what’s happening to an entire generation of kids in this country, we might as well acknowledge the smoke, the heat, and the fact that someone, some system, keeps pretending they don’t smell the fire they started.

That’s what I tell myself every time the news hits too hard. When the stories feel too big, When the grief gets stuck in my throat. Grounding myself is the only way I can face the reality that children in our country are being traumatized by the very systems that claim to protect them.

And it’s not the “kids these days have it rough” kind of trauma. Not the “life is hard, they’ll be fine” kind of trauma. No. I’m talking about the kind that leaves scars you can’t see but can feel for a lifetime. We’re watching children grow up in a society that keeps calling them “resilient,” as if resilience is a prize and not a survival mechanism. As if being traumatized is some kind of character‑building exercise.

Oh, congratulations, you’ve unlocked Level 10 Emotional Endurance. Your reward is more adversity. And sarcasm is the only seasoning that makes this palatable. Because the truth is bitter. Our government’s dysfunction, cruelty, and chaos are shaping our kids in ways we won’t fully understand for decades.

Children are absorbing fear like secondhand smoke. They’re inhaling uncertainty. They’re watching adults crumble under policies and crises that never should’ve existed in the first place. And while all this is happening, we are living in a nation where children are having their parents ripped from their arms. Families are separated like someone is sorting laundry instead of human beings. Kids, actual kids, are being put in cages. Some Americans are cheering for it, proudly declaring, “They deserve it.”

And while they cheer, children are being:

  • Physically abused
  • Sexually abused
  • Forced to work for around $1 an hour
  • Fed food with worms
  • Denied medical care

This isn’t metaphor. This isn’t exaggeration. This is happening on our soil. And we’re supposed to pretend this won’t shape an entire generation? We already have a mental health crisis bursting at the seams. It’s understaffed. Underfunded. And overwhelmed. Kids are learning anxiety before they learn multiplication. They know the word “lockdown” before they know “confidence.” They watch adults fight for basic rights and think that’s just how life works. This isn’t resilience. This is trauma dressed up as “normal.” And the worst part? We’re gaslit into believing this is just the way things are now. Like the trauma is a feature, not a bug.

But here’s the mic drop. Trauma doesn’t disappear. It compounds. It grows roots. It becomes generational. And when you plant fear, instability, and cruelty in children, you don’t get a stronger society. You get a wounded one. We are cooking a future we are not prepared to eat. Because the children who survive this. Who grow up in cages. Who grow up watching their parents taken. Whoever grow up being told by a cheering crowd that their suffering is deserved, they will carry this with them into adulthood. Into parenthood. And into society.

We are not raising resilience. We are raising trauma survivors. And the people cheering? They don’t realize they’re cheering for a future that will haunt all of us. This isn’t politics. This is humanity. Or the lack of it. A society that harms children, any children, cannot call itself moral. It can only call itself complicit. Thanks for reading! And wake up America. Our children need protecting.

Affirmation: I refuse to be numb to what hurts us. I see the truth. I speak the truth. And I protect the next generation with my voice, my heart, and my fire.

I am Jane Doe

My name is Jane Doe,

and I learned too young that silence has a pulse.

It thumps in the throat, it bruises the air,

it teaches you how to fold yourself into something

small enough to survive the night.

I did not choose this name

it was handed to me the moment someone decided

my body was theirs to trespass.

A name for the unnamed,

for the girls who disappear inside themselves

because speaking feels like stepping back into the fire.

I carry memories that shake

even when my hands look still.

I carry nights that never end,

questions that never had answers,

and a childhood that was rewritten by someone else’s violence.

My name is Jane Doe,

because the world prefers me faceless

it’s easier that way.

Easier to ignore the trembling, the aftermath,

the way a soul limps long after the body looks healed.

But I am not a headline, not a case file,

not a whisper people avoid

because it makes them uncomfortable.

I am a survivor with a voice that learned to rise even when it cracked.

My name is Jane Doe,

but I am not anonymous anymore.

I speak for the ones still gathering courage,

for the ones who only breathe in fragments,

for the ones who haven’t yet remembered

that their story is still theirs.

I survived what tried to erase me.

I survived what tried to rename me.

And today I say my name out loud,

not because it is simple,

but because it is mine.

The Genitals Administration: Now With Extra Hypocrisy

“Any government that talks more about genitals than healthcare is not protecting you. It’s projecting.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Today, we are summoning every ancestor who ever clutched their pearls. Hid their good china. Or whispered, “Lord have mercy” when the preacher said something inappropriate. We are calling forth Aunt Magnolia, Uncle Rufus, Cousin Pearl-with-the-bad-attitude, and every ghost who ever lived through a scandal. But NOT the children and NOT the animals. Unless you want to work for the FBI. Because what we’re about to discuss is not fit for tender souls or creatures who rely on us for kibble. They don’t deserve this level of anatomical chaos.

Today, under the glow of Mississippi humidity and charcoal smoke, we gather to confront a national mystery so bizarre it deserves its own Netflix docuseries. Why is the current administration obsessed with genitals? Not healthcare. Not infrastructure. Not education. Not diplomacy. Nope. Just genitals. Your genitals. My genitals. Genitals they legislate, regulate, investigate, and allegedly crash Grindr with.

Ten Examples Of The Administration’s War On Genitals

1. Bathroom Legislation.

Some administrations build bridges. This one builds bathroom flowcharts. They’ve spent more time deciding who pees and poops where, rather than fixing anything that actually matters. My ancestors are pacing the spirit realm whispering, “Why are grown men so invested in toilets? Why are grown men spending more time thinking about where people pee and poop than fixing anything? If you’re this invested in toilets, go work at Home Depot.

2. The Historic Tradition of Grabbing People by the Genitals

A moment that will live in infamy. A moment that should’ve ended careers. A moment that instead became a personality trait. Sir, that is not a handshake. That is a felony.

3. The Grindr Crashes Heard Across the Nation They swear they’re “traditional.” They swear they’re “family values.” Yet somehow Grindr crashes every time a cabinet meeting ends. Coincidence? That ain’t coincidence. That’s congestion. And every time a Republican Convention gathers, Grindr goes down like it’s been hit by a cyberattack. Y’all keep saying ‘family values,’ but the server logs say, ‘thirsty chaos.’

4. The War on Trans Bodies

Bathroom bans. Sports bans. Medical bans. Everything except banning their own obsession with other people’s anatomy. My ancestors are lighting sage and muttering, “Leave folks alone.” If you’re writing laws about someone else’s anatomy, you’re not protecting anything. You’re just proving you think about genitals more than your own job.

5. The Cabinet of ‘Family Values’ That Keeps Getting Credibly Accused of Everything BUT Family Values

Every week it’s a new scandal. A new accusation. A new “misunderstanding.” My ancestors are exhausted. They need PTO. Family values? The only thing y’all value is plausible deniability.”

6. The Obsession With Policing Drag Shows

Food insecurity? Healthcare? Housing? Nope. Let’s talk about genitals again. My ancestors are throwing sweet tea at the wall. Men in wigs scare you? My mee-maw wore three wigs to church every Sunday. And our founding fathers wore wigs. Grow up.

7. The ‘Protect the Children’ Rhetoric While Ignoring Actual Threats

Men in wigs? Women in wigs? Everyone in wigs? Apparently wigs = danger. If you cared about kids, you’d fix schools. And hold the president, billionaires, and other politicians accountable for crimes against women and children. Not stalking bathrooms like a mall cop with a pelvic fixation.”

8. The Homoerotic Wrestling Events That Follow Anti-LGBTQ Speeches

They scream about anatomy while ignoring actual harm. My ancestors are filing celestial restraining orders. You can’t yell ‘traditional values’ and then host an event that looks like the opening scene of a Grindr hookup. Pick a lane.”

9. The Constant Commentary on People’s Bodies

Sweaty men rolling around in cages. Grunting. Flexing. Followed by an afterparty that mysteriously aligns with Grindr server outages. My ancestors are fanning themselves dramatically. Why do y’all talk about anatomy like it’s a weather report? ‘Today’s forecast: scattered genitals with a chance of hypocrisy.’

10. The Attempt to Regulate Genitals Instead of Governing

Every speech. Every rally. Every interview. Somehow it circles back to genitals. My ancestors are begging for silence. Fix the roads. Fix healthcare. End the “Epstein War on Iran.” Fix literally anything. Stop trying to run a country like it’s a pelvic inspection.”

As the charcoal crackles. And the ancestors lean in like they’re watching a soap opera, let us acknowledge the truth. This administration is not governing. They’re running a full‑time genital surveillance program. They legislate genitals. They comment on genitals. They grab genitals. They crash Grindr with their own genitals. They accuse others of immoral genitals. While their own are out here doing extracurricular activities that would make a church deacon faint.

Meanwhile, the American people are standing here like, “Can y’all please stop talking about crotches and start talking about the country?” But no. The obsession continues. The hypocrisy continues. The scandals continue. And the server outages? Those continue too. Charcoal smoldering. Ancestors dismissed. I delivered every comment like a Southern Beyoncé with a sociology degree and a grudge. Thanks for reading!

Affirmation: My body is not your battleground. My autonomy is not your agenda. My voice is loud. My boundaries are blessed. And my humor is lethal.
