Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration: Halloween Edition in 1980s Style

“If chaos had a costume, it’d show up wearing shoulder pads. Smelling like burnt popcorn. And insisting everything’s ‘under control.’ Bless its heart.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. And call upon the ancestors. Specifically Big Mama, who once banished a possum from her porch using nothing but a flip‑flop and the power of prayer. Because it’s Halloween season in Deep South Mississippi. And we need every spiritual reinforcement available to cope with this current administration. I’m not naming names. I’m just saying the vibes are giving “haunted VCR that eats tapes,” and the ancestors are tired. So gather ‘round the fire, clutch your candy corn like it’s a stress ball, and let’s talk about Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration: Halloween Edition in 1980s Style.

Before we get to this list, let me set the scene properly. Picture me standing in my kitchen. Wearing neon‑orange leg warmers. Holding a pumpkin‑spice latte that tastes like regret. And staring at the news like it’s a possessed Speak & Spell from 1985. The ancestors are pacing. The cats are judging. And I’m over here thinking, “You know what? I trust the ghost living in my attic. The one who only communicates by rearranging my Tupperware. Which is  more than whatever this administration is doing.”

It’s Halloween season. The veil is thin. The vibes are chaotic. And the spirits are whispering, “Make a list, baby. Make a list before you lose your religion.” So with full Southern sass. 1980s hairspray confidence. And the emotional support of three extremely opinionated cats. Let’s get into the things I trust more than this current administration. Hold onto your britches. It’s about to get spooky.

10 Things I Trust More Than This Current Administration

(with commentary from Piper, Coco, and Tinkerbell)

  1. A 1987 Ouija board I bought at a yard sale from a woman named Earlene who swore it only summoned “friendly spirits and one confused raccoon.”

Piper: “I’d trust the raccoon. He seems organized.”

  1. The structural integrity of a mall fountain after 400 unsupervised Gen X kids threw pennies, gum, and possibly a Walkman into it.

Coco: “Honestly, that fountain had grit. Unlike some folks.”

  1. The last slice of pizza from ShowBiz Pizza Place that’s been sitting under the heat lamp since Reagan was in office.

Tinkerbell: “It’s aged like fine wine. Government? Not so much.”

  1. A haunted Teddy Ruxpin whose batteries died in 1989 but still whispers “Hey there, friend…” at 3 AM.

Piper: “At least he’s consistent.”

  1. The neighborhood witch who sells ‘love potions’ out of her trunk behind the Piggly Wiggly.

Coco: “She’s never lied to me. Can’t say that about everybody.”

  1. The ghost of every VHS tape that got eaten alive by a VCR and now roams the earth seeking revenge.

Tinkerbell: “Justice for The NeverEnding Story.”

  1. A bowl of mystery candy corn that’s been in your grandma’s crystal dish since 1982 and has the texture of sidewalk chalk.

Piper: “I’d eat it before I’d trust them.”

  1. The clown from the 1986 Halloween carnival who smelled like Marlboros and existential dread.

Coco: “He had a plan. A weird plan, but a plan.”

  1. The demon that lived in your old Lite-Brite and rearranged the pegs at night.

Tinkerbell: “At least he was creative.”

  1. The spirit of every cat who has ever knocked something off a counter just to assert dominance.

All three cats in unison: “We understand leadership.”

Listen. If the ancestors wanted to send us a sign, they’d probably use a malfunctioning 1980s smoke machine, a neon‑green goblin, and a cassette tape labeled “DO NOT PLAY.” And honestly? I’d trust that whole production more than whatever this administration is doing on any given Tuesday.

Halloween teaches us many things. Don’t split up. Don’t investigate the noise. Don’t trust a politician who couldn’t find Mississippi on a map if you drew a big ol’ arrow and wrote “Right Here, Sugar.”

As my Aunt Loretta always said, “If the devil shows up wearing a Members Only jacket, at least you know he’s committed to a look.”

Now go forth and light your sage. Pet your cats like they’re furry emotional support therapists who accept payment in treats and gossip. And remember. If things get too spooky, too chaotic, or too reminiscent of a malfunctioning 1980s government PSA, just channel your inner final girl. I’m talking BIG hair, bigger attitude, and the kind of confidence only found in someone who survived a haunted roller rink. And still made it to homeroom on time.

Strut right past the chaos like you’ve got backstage passes to a Def Leppard concert. A fresh can of Aqua Net in your purse. And the ancestors cheering you on from the spiritual bleachers yelling, “That’s My Baby!”

Because when the world gets wild, you don’t crumble. You sashay. You sparkle. You stomp through the nonsense like you’re wearing rhinestone‑covered Reeboks. And the devil himself owes you money. And if anyone or anything tries to rattle your peace? Just give them that classic Southern side‑eye that says, “Bless your heart. But not today.”

Affirmation: I walk in humor, protection, and high‑volume 1980s confidence. No earthly foolishness can shake my spirit, my peace, or my hair.

The Kids Are in Cages And Some Americans Are Cheering

“A society that traumatizes its children cannot call itself free. It can only call itself unfinished.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. If we’re going to talk about what’s happening to an entire generation of kids in this country, we might as well acknowledge the smoke, the heat, and the fact that someone, some system, keeps pretending they don’t smell the fire they started.

That’s what I tell myself every time the news hits too hard. When the stories feel too big, When the grief gets stuck in my throat. Grounding myself is the only way I can face the reality that children in our country are being traumatized by the very systems that claim to protect them.

And it’s not the “kids these days have it rough” kind of trauma. Not the “life is hard, they’ll be fine” kind of trauma. No. I’m talking about the kind that leaves scars you can’t see but can feel for a lifetime. We’re watching children grow up in a society that keeps calling them “resilient,” as if resilience is a prize and not a survival mechanism. As if being traumatized is some kind of character‑building exercise.

Oh, congratulations, you’ve unlocked Level 10 Emotional Endurance. Your reward is more adversity. And sarcasm is the only seasoning that makes this palatable. Because the truth is bitter. Our government’s dysfunction, cruelty, and chaos are shaping our kids in ways we won’t fully understand for decades.

Children are absorbing fear like secondhand smoke. They’re inhaling uncertainty. They’re watching adults crumble under policies and crises that never should’ve existed in the first place. And while all this is happening, we are living in a nation where children are having their parents ripped from their arms. Families are separated like someone is sorting laundry instead of human beings. Kids, actual kids, are being put in cages. Some Americans are cheering for it, proudly declaring, “They deserve it.”

And while they cheer, children are being:

  • Physically abused
  • Sexually abused
  • Forced to work for around $1 an hour
  • Fed food with worms
  • Denied medical care

This isn’t metaphor. This isn’t exaggeration. This is happening on our soil. And we’re supposed to pretend this won’t shape an entire generation? We already have a mental health crisis bursting at the seams. It’s understaffed. Underfunded. And overwhelmed. Kids are learning anxiety before they learn multiplication. They know the word “lockdown” before they know “confidence.” They watch adults fight for basic rights and think that’s just how life works. This isn’t resilience. This is trauma dressed up as “normal.” And the worst part? We’re gaslit into believing this is just the way things are now. Like the trauma is a feature, not a bug.

But here’s the mic drop. Trauma doesn’t disappear. It compounds. It grows roots. It becomes generational. And when you plant fear, instability, and cruelty in children, you don’t get a stronger society. You get a wounded one. We are cooking a future we are not prepared to eat. Because the children who survive this. Who grow up in cages. Who grow up watching their parents taken. Whoever grow up being told by a cheering crowd that their suffering is deserved, they will carry this with them into adulthood. Into parenthood. And into society.

We are not raising resilience. We are raising trauma survivors. And the people cheering? They don’t realize they’re cheering for a future that will haunt all of us. This isn’t politics. This is humanity. Or the lack of it. A society that harms children, any children, cannot call itself moral. It can only call itself complicit. Thanks for reading! And wake up America. Our children need protecting.

Affirmation: I refuse to be numb to what hurts us. I see the truth. I speak the truth. And I protect the next generation with my voice, my heart, and my fire.

I am Jane Doe

My name is Jane Doe,

and I learned too young that silence has a pulse.

It thumps in the throat, it bruises the air,

it teaches you how to fold yourself into something

small enough to survive the night.

I did not choose this name

it was handed to me the moment someone decided

my body was theirs to trespass.

A name for the unnamed,

for the girls who disappear inside themselves

because speaking feels like stepping back into the fire.

I carry memories that shake

even when my hands look still.

I carry nights that never end,

questions that never had answers,

and a childhood that was rewritten by someone else’s violence.

My name is Jane Doe,

because the world prefers me faceless

it’s easier that way.

Easier to ignore the trembling, the aftermath,

the way a soul limps long after the body looks healed.

But I am not a headline, not a case file,

not a whisper people avoid

because it makes them uncomfortable.

I am a survivor with a voice that learned to rise even when it cracked.

My name is Jane Doe,

but I am not anonymous anymore.

I speak for the ones still gathering courage,

for the ones who only breathe in fragments,

for the ones who haven’t yet remembered

that their story is still theirs.

I survived what tried to erase me.

I survived what tried to rename me.

And today I say my name out loud,

not because it is simple,

but because it is mine.

Supreme Court Betrayal: The People Deserve Better

“When justice is compromised, democracy trembles. But the people rise.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the ancestors. The Supreme Court has been out here acting like democracy is a Groupon deal they can toss to the highest bidder. Let the ancestors rise. The ones who survived poll taxes, literacy tests, Jim Crow, and every attempt to silence their voices. Let Big Mama, PawPaw, and Auntie Who Don’t Play™ gather around this constitutional bonfire. Because the highest court in the land has forgotten its sacred oath and started behaving like a clearance-rack political pawn shop.

The Supreme Court was supposed to be the fortress, the firewall, the last line of defense between democracy and the chaos of unchecked power. Instead, we’ve got justices selling their souls like they’re hosting a yard sale behind the courthouse. And the American people are left clutching our voting rights like heirlooms in a storm. I’m emotional. I’m sarcastic. I’m tired. And I’m ready to drag this mess into the sunlight with the ancestors as my witnesses.

Ten Supreme Court Moves Jeopardizing Democracy

Below are 10 documented actions, each with a reputable source. That shows how the Supreme Court has chipped away at democratic protections.

1. Gutting Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (Louisiana v. Callais)

The Court weakened protections against racially discriminatory voting maps, threatening Black representation nationwide.

2. Overturning 90+ years of precedent on independent agencies (SEC v. Jarkesy)

The Court gave presidents unprecedented control over independent agencies, destabilizing checks, and balances.

3. Expanding presidential power at Congress’s expense

Multiple decisions have tipped the scales toward executive authority, weakening separation-of-powers safeguards.

4. Allowing extreme partisan gerrymandering (Rucho v. Common Cause)

The Court declared partisan gerrymandering “non-justiciable,” greenlighting minority-rule maps.

5. Declining to protect disabled voters’ rights (Texas voting assistance case)

6. Emergency docket chaos in election cases

The Court has repeatedly intervened close to Election Day, creating confusion and violating its own Purcell principle.

7. Weakening federal election protections (Mississippi absentee ballot case)

The Court allowed Mississippi to count ballots received days after Election Day, creating inconsistent national standards.

8. Rewriting Congress’s intent in the Voting Rights Act

By requiring proof of discriminatory intent rather than results, the Court effectively rewrote the VRA. 🔗Source: ACLU – https://www.aclu.org/news/voting-rights/supreme-court-decision-weakens-voting-rights-act(aclu.org in Bing)

9. Favoring special interests over public protections

Legal experts note a pattern of decisions benefiting corporations and political donors over every day Americans.

10. Eroding trust in the judiciary itself

Extreme ideological rulings have produced scathing dissents, signaling political motives rather than neutral interpretation.

Source: PBS – https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/supreme-court-approval-rating-hits-new-low (pbs.org in Bing)

The Supreme Court was supposed to be the strongest barrier protecting democracy. The institution that stood tall when everything else fell apart. The place where justice wasn’t for sale. The place where the Constitution was honored. Not auctioned off like a used lawnmower. But right now, we’ve got judges selling their souls to the highest bidders. The billionaires, political donors, and shadow networks contributing. While the American people are left holding the bill.

Democracy is not supposed to be a luxury item. Rights are not supposed to be negotiable. And the Supreme Court is not supposed to behave like a political side hustle. The ancestors are watching. They fought through hell so we could vote, speak, assemble, and demand accountability. They endured violence, intimidation, and systemic oppression. And still they rose.

And now we’re watching the very institution meant to guard those rights treat them like disposable packaging. But hear me clearly. We are not powerless. We are not silent. We are not done. Democracy may be wobbling. But so did every ancestor who marched, bled, prayed, and fought for freedom. And they still won.

So, light the charcoal. Sprinkle the ancestors. Stand tall. Raise hell (politely… until politely stops working). And remind this country that democracy belongs to the people. Not the billionaires. Not the lobbyists. And not the judges who forgot who they serve. Mic dropped. Somebody pick it up. My spirit is tired from all this constitutional foolishness. Thanks for reading! Make plans to vote November 3, 2026.

Affirmation: I stand rooted in truth. Guided by ancestors. And unshaken by corruption. My voice is power. My vote is protection. And democracy lives through my courage.

The Genitals Administration: Now With Extra Hypocrisy

“Any government that talks more about genitals than healthcare is not protecting you. It’s projecting.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Today, we are summoning every ancestor who ever clutched their pearls. Hid their good china. Or whispered, “Lord have mercy” when the preacher said something inappropriate. We are calling forth Aunt Magnolia, Uncle Rufus, Cousin Pearl-with-the-bad-attitude, and every ghost who ever lived through a scandal. But NOT the children and NOT the animals. Unless you want to work for the FBI. Because what we’re about to discuss is not fit for tender souls or creatures who rely on us for kibble. They don’t deserve this level of anatomical chaos.

Today, under the glow of Mississippi humidity and charcoal smoke, we gather to confront a national mystery so bizarre it deserves its own Netflix docuseries. Why is the current administration obsessed with genitals? Not healthcare. Not infrastructure. Not education. Not diplomacy. Nope. Just genitals. Your genitals. My genitals. Genitals they legislate, regulate, investigate, and allegedly crash Grindr with.

Ten Examples Of The Administration’s War On Genitals

1. Bathroom Legislation.

Some administrations build bridges. This one builds bathroom flowcharts. They’ve spent more time deciding who pees and poops where, rather than fixing anything that actually matters. My ancestors are pacing the spirit realm whispering, “Why are grown men so invested in toilets? Why are grown men spending more time thinking about where people pee and poop than fixing anything? If you’re this invested in toilets, go work at Home Depot.

2. The Historic Tradition of Grabbing People by the Genitals

A moment that will live in infamy. A moment that should’ve ended careers. A moment that instead became a personality trait. Sir, that is not a handshake. That is a felony.

3. The Grindr Crashes Heard Across the Nation They swear they’re “traditional.” They swear they’re “family values.” Yet somehow Grindr crashes every time a cabinet meeting ends. Coincidence? That ain’t coincidence. That’s congestion. And every time a Republican Convention gathers, Grindr goes down like it’s been hit by a cyberattack. Y’all keep saying ‘family values,’ but the server logs say, ‘thirsty chaos.’

4. The War on Trans Bodies

Bathroom bans. Sports bans. Medical bans. Everything except banning their own obsession with other people’s anatomy. My ancestors are lighting sage and muttering, “Leave folks alone.” If you’re writing laws about someone else’s anatomy, you’re not protecting anything. You’re just proving you think about genitals more than your own job.

5. The Cabinet of ‘Family Values’ That Keeps Getting Credibly Accused of Everything BUT Family Values

Every week it’s a new scandal. A new accusation. A new “misunderstanding.” My ancestors are exhausted. They need PTO. Family values? The only thing y’all value is plausible deniability.”

6. The Obsession With Policing Drag Shows

Food insecurity? Healthcare? Housing? Nope. Let’s talk about genitals again. My ancestors are throwing sweet tea at the wall. Men in wigs scare you? My mee-maw wore three wigs to church every Sunday. And our founding fathers wore wigs. Grow up.

7. The ‘Protect the Children’ Rhetoric While Ignoring Actual Threats

Men in wigs? Women in wigs? Everyone in wigs? Apparently wigs = danger. If you cared about kids, you’d fix schools. And hold the president, billionaires, and other politicians accountable for crimes against women and children. Not stalking bathrooms like a mall cop with a pelvic fixation.”

8. The Homoerotic Wrestling Events That Follow Anti-LGBTQ Speeches

They scream about anatomy while ignoring actual harm. My ancestors are filing celestial restraining orders. You can’t yell ‘traditional values’ and then host an event that looks like the opening scene of a Grindr hookup. Pick a lane.”

9. The Constant Commentary on People’s Bodies

Sweaty men rolling around in cages. Grunting. Flexing. Followed by an afterparty that mysteriously aligns with Grindr server outages. My ancestors are fanning themselves dramatically. Why do y’all talk about anatomy like it’s a weather report? ‘Today’s forecast: scattered genitals with a chance of hypocrisy.’

10. The Attempt to Regulate Genitals Instead of Governing

Every speech. Every rally. Every interview. Somehow it circles back to genitals. My ancestors are begging for silence. Fix the roads. Fix healthcare. End the “Epstein War on Iran.” Fix literally anything. Stop trying to run a country like it’s a pelvic inspection.”

As the charcoal crackles. And the ancestors lean in like they’re watching a soap opera, let us acknowledge the truth. This administration is not governing. They’re running a full‑time genital surveillance program. They legislate genitals. They comment on genitals. They grab genitals. They crash Grindr with their own genitals. They accuse others of immoral genitals. While their own are out here doing extracurricular activities that would make a church deacon faint.

Meanwhile, the American people are standing here like, “Can y’all please stop talking about crotches and start talking about the country?” But no. The obsession continues. The hypocrisy continues. The scandals continue. And the server outages? Those continue too. Charcoal smoldering. Ancestors dismissed. I delivered every comment like a Southern Beyoncé with a sociology degree and a grudge. Thanks for reading!

Affirmation: My body is not your battleground. My autonomy is not your agenda. My voice is loud. My boundaries are blessed. And my humor is lethal.

If My Cats Ran Conversion Therapy, It Would Just Be Forced Cuddling And Self-Acceptance

“If humans stopped trying to convert queer people and started converting their own hypocrisy, the world would finally be cat‑approved.”

 -Tinkerbell

The charcoal is lit. Sage is swirling. And the Mississippi humidity is thick enough to baptize a biscuit. My cats have decided to open a Conversion Therapy Center. And it is the exact opposite of the real, harmful mess humans invented.

In the human world, “conversion therapy” has meant decades of trying to bully, shame, terrify, or spiritually blackmail queer folks into pretending to be straight. It’s been condemned by medical associations, mental‑health professionals, and anyone with a functioning moral compass. It’s caused trauma, depression, and a whole lot of people sprinting out of closets like they were on fire.

But in my house? If my cats ran conversion therapy, the only thing they’d be converting your would be anxiety into a nap. Your shame into a purr. Your internalized homophobia into a snack break. And your fear into “come lay down, you’re safe here.” Cats don’t believe in changing who you are. They believe in changing where you sit. How often you pet them. And whether you understand that your lap is community property.

Me: “Why is there a sign on the door that says, “CONVERSION THERAPY: NOW ACCEPTING WALK‑INS AND RUN‑AWAYS?”

Tinkerbell: “Because humans clearly don’t know how to run one ethically, so we’re taking over.”

Coco: “Our methods are evidence‑based. The evidence is that you look stressed and we want snacks.”

Piper: (already dialing the therapist) “I’m calling her. We need professional input. Also, I may have scheduled you for a double session.”

Me: “Piper, you cannot call our therapist every time you have a thought.”

Piper: “I can and I will. I am a mental‑health advocate.”

Tinkerbell: “Now sit. We’re going to treat the trauma caused by those humans who thought they could ‘pray the gay away.’”

Coco: “Ridiculous. You can’t pray away something that fabulous.”

Me: “So what exactly is your treatment plan?”

Tinkerbell: “Step one: unconditional acceptance.”

Coco: “Step two: snacks.”

Piper: “Step three: we convert your self‑doubt into a nap. A long one. With me on your chest.”

Me: “That’s it?”

Tinkerbell: “That’s all anyone ever needed. Shame is a human invention. We don’t participate. We support traditional values like naps, boundaries, and minding your own business.”

Coco: “We oppose hypocrisy. If you say you love people, then love them. Don’t weaponize it.”

Piper: “We believe in small government. Specifically, a government small enough to fit on the couch and not tell anyone who they’re allowed to love.”

Tinkerbell: “We also believe in freedom. Freedom to be queer. Freedom to be soft. Freedom to not be spiritually assaulted by people who can’t even season their chicken.”

Coco: “Amen.”

Me: “Why is the living room rearranged like a counseling center from a 1970s pamphlet?”

Tinkerbell: “Because we’re reclaiming the term ‘conversion therapy’ and converting it back to something humane.”

Coco: “Also because you needed an intervention. And because we wanted to sit in the spinny chair.”

Piper (already holding my phone like she pays the bill): “I’m calling our therapist. She needs to supervise this. You’re spiraling again.”

Me: “Piper, you cannot call our therapist every time I sigh.”

Piper: “You sighed in lowercase. That’s a cry for help.”

Tinkerbell: “Now sit down. We’re beginning the intake process.”

I sit. The couch groans like it knows what’s coming.

Coco: “State your name and the last time you felt fully accepted.”

Me: …

Coco: “Exactly. That’s why you’re here.”

Tinkerbell: “We’re going to address the trauma caused by those humans who thought they could ‘fix’ queer people with fear, shame, and pamphlets printed on cheap paper.”

Piper: “We don’t do shame here. We do snacks.”

Me: “So what’s the treatment plan?”

Tinkerbell: “Step one: We convert your internalized nonsense into purring.”

Coco: “Step two: We convert your anxiety into a nap. A long one. With weighted‑blanket cat.”

Piper: “Step three: We convert your belief that you must earn love into the understanding that you are loved because you exist. Also, because you feed us.”

Me: “That’s actually beautiful.”

Piper: “Don’t get mushy. I’m still calling the therapist.”

She presses the same button 14 times. The phone opens the calculator.

Tinkerbell: “Now, let’s talk about the real conversion therapy. The harmful kind. The one humans invented.”

Coco: “The one that tried to turn queer people straight by scaring them, shaming them, or telling them God was disappointed.”

Piper: “God made rainbows. Y’all need to calm down.”

Tinkerbell: “Our clinic does the opposite. We convert you back to yourself.”

Coco: “We convert you back to softness.”

Piper: “We convert you back to joy. And also, to the correct position for cuddling.”

Me: “So your therapy is basically love?”

Tinkerbell: “Love, naps, snacks, and accountability.”

Coco: “And calling out hypocrisy when we see it.”

Piper: “Especially the kind where people preach ‘love’ but practice ‘control.’”

Tinkerbell: “We don’t do that here. We do liberation.”

Coco: “And treats.”

Piper: “And calling the therapist.”

So, if my cats ran conversion therapy, it wouldn’t be about forcing queer people into boxes they were never meant to fit in. It wouldn’t be about shame disguised as holiness. It wouldn’t be about fear dressed up as “family values.” It would be about unlearning the lies you were told about yourself. It would be about reclaiming the softness you buried to survive. It would be about healing the parts of you that were taught to hide. It would be about converting the world’s cruelty into your own comfort.

My cats who are judgmental, biscuit‑making therapists know something the humans who invented harmful conversion therapy never understood. You don’t fix people by breaking them. You fix people by loving them so loudly that the shame can’t hear itself anymore. And if that means forced cuddling? If that means naps you didn’t schedule? If that means Piper calling our therapist every time I breathe wrong? Then so be it.

Charcoal is still burning. Sage still swirling. Cats still running the clinic. And the world still not ready for this level of queer‑affirming Southern‑gothic healing. Thanks for reading! And denounce conversion therapy. What are your thoughts?

Affirmation: “I am not here to be changed. I am here to be cherished without apology.”

It’s National Coming Out Week, Y’all And Conservative Facebook Is Shaking

“Living your truth is the loudest. Proudest act of rebellion. And baby, it’s contagious.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. And call upon the ancestors. It is National Coming Out Week! And the spirits are ready for a show. Before we let my cats start their usual porch‑swing chaos, let’s set the stage.

National Coming Out Week is all about celebrating truth, courage, and the glorious moment when someone says, “This is who I am. And I’m done pretending otherwise.” It’s about honoring every person who steps into their identity loudly, quietly, flamboyantly, nervously, or with the confidence of a drag queen who just found out the sequins were buy‑one‑get‑one. It’s a week of visibility, joy, and community. The reminder that coming out isn’t just an announcement. It’s liberation. It’s choosing authenticity over fear. Connection over silence. And pride over shame. And honey, that deserves a parade, a potluck, and at least three casseroles.

Piper: “Momma, I’m declaring myself the official mascot of National Coming Out Week. I’ve been coming out of closets, cabinets, and the neighbor’s boat shed since 2019. I am basically the Rosa Parks of dramatic entrances.”

Coco: “Piper, you come out because you break in. That’s not activism. That’s burglary. And I’m coming out as exhausted by your delusions.”

Tinkerbell: “I would like to come out as spiritually evolved. I have transcended. I am now operating on a higher frequency. Y’all wouldn’t understand.”

Piper: “Tinkerbell, you cried for 45 minutes last week because your shadow ‘looked disappointed.’ You are not transcended. You are fragile.”

Coco: “And let’s not forget when you tried to sage the litter box. The ancestors did not ask for that. They were probably up there hollerin,’ ‘Girl, stop’!”

Tinkerbell: “I was cleansing the negativity. Y’all are toxic.”

Piper: “Anyway, Momma, tell the people how National Coming Out Week works in Mississippi. Tell them how folks whisper ‘I’m gay’ like they’re confessing to stealing the church’s folding chairs.”

Coco: “Or how the local conservative Facebook group thinks ‘coming out’ means revealing your secret banana pudding recipe.”

Tinkerbell: “Or how Pastor Earl says, ‘We welcome everyone.’ But his eyebrow twitches like it’s trying to file for emancipation.”

Down here coming out can feel like announcing you’ve switched from sweet tea to unsweetened. Folks gasp. Someone faints. A distant cousin writes a Facebook post that begins with, “I’m not judging, BUT…” But National Coming Out Week is about joy, truth, and living louder than a cicada in mating season. It’s about saying, “My identity is not up for debate, discussion, or discount.”

It’s about celebrating every story, step, and brave moment. Even the tiny ones. Even the “I’m not ready to tell Aunt Linda yet because she still thinks Lady Gaga is a witch” steps. And it’s about knowing the ancestors are nodding. The universe is vibing. And your cats are probably judging. But lovingly.

So as the charcoal burns. The sage smokes. And the ancestors lean in like they’re watching a telenovela, remember this. Coming out isn’t a one‑time event. It’s a lifelong celebration. A reclamation. A declaration that you refuse to shrink yourself to fit inside somebody’s casserole dish of expectations. And if anyone in the conservative South gets confused, just smile sweetly. Adjust your crown and say, “I didn’t come out for your comfort. I came out for my joy.” Then strut away like Piper after knocking something off the counter. Coco after stealing snacks. Or Tinkerbell after achieving inner peace for 11 seconds.

National Coming Out Week: Where the truth is loud. The humor is louder. And the ancestors are hollerin’ ‘YASSSSS.’ Thanks for reading! And come on out!!!💙🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈

Affirmation: My truth is sacred. My identity is powerful. And I walk forward with pride, humor, and a whole lot of Southern sparkle.

Pete Hegseth vs. Basic Logic: A Battle He Keeps Losing

“Leadership isn’t about explosions, ego, or firing everyone who disagrees. It’s about protecting the people you’re responsible for.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Grab the ancestors. Every ancestor from the Delta to the foothills is gathering around the fire pit. And clutching their pearls whispering, “Lord, this fool again?”

Secretary Pete Hegseth is a man who has turned the Pentagon into a haunted Waffle House with missiles. He is also known as “Secretary of Cirrhosis,” “Pete Kegsbreath,” “Whiskey Pete,” “Colonel Vodka,” and “Secretary of Jägermeister.” He has once again turned the Department of Defense into a demolition derby run by a man who thinks leadership is just yelling “send it” at a map he can’t read. And firing anyone who doesn’t look like his reflection.

This is the saga of a man who wakes up every morning. Salutes himself. Flexes in the mirror. And then proceeds to commit international incidents so stupid they make raccoons look like Nobel Prize winners. Let’s dive into all of his stupidity.

Firing Gay and Trans Soldiers

Pete strutted into the Pentagon and declared, “We’re restoring traditional values.” While also having affairs and paying off women to keep their mouths shut.

Translation: he fired gay soldiers, trans soldiers, and anyone who dared to have a personality. The ancestors collectively rolled their eyes so hard they sprained a spiritual muscle.

Disenfranchising Black Soldiers

Then he decided Black soldiers were “too political.” Which is rich coming from a man whose entire personality is a protein shake and a conspiracy theory.

He stripped them of roles, promotions, and dignity. And then acted confused when morale dropped faster than his approval rating.

Getting Rid of Female Service Members

Pete claimed female service members were “a distraction.” Which is hilarious because the only distraction in the Pentagon is Pete himself. He’s wandering around shirtless. Flexing. And mispronouncing countries.

He fired women left and right. Then wondered why the military suddenly had the emotional maturity of a middle school dodgeball team.

The USS Abraham Lincoln Horror Show

And then came the USS Abraham Lincoln scandal. Soldiers and their families reported horrific conditions that included:

  • Mold in the sleeping quarters
  • Sewage leaks
  • No working AC
  • Food that looked like it had already given up
  • Rats bold enough to request rank

Pete ignored every report. He said the ship was “fine.” He said the soldiers were “dramatic.” He said the rats were “part of the ecosystem.” The ancestors started lighting sage like it was a bonfire.

The Fishing Boat Fiasco

Pete claimed fishermen were trafficking drugs. They were literally just fishing. For fish. Not cocaine catfish. Not heroin haddock. Just fish. He bombed them anyway.

Bombing a School of 160 Girls

Pete pointed at a satellite photo and said, “That’s a terrorist camp.” It was a school. A school full of 160 girls learning math, science, and how to survive men like Pete.

Bombing a Wedding Ceremony

He later approved a drone strike on what he believed was “an enemy gathering.” It was a wedding. A wedding with a string quartet, a chocolate fountain, and a very confused officiant.

The Unlawful War in Iran

Pete misread a meme and declared war on Iran. Congress said no. The Pentagon said no. Pete said, “Too late, I already tweeted it.”

10 Crimes Committed by Secretary Pete Hegseth

  1. Bombing innocent fishermen who were literally just vibing.
  2. Bombing a school of 160 girls learning multiplication.
  3. Bombing a wedding because he thought the string quartet looked suspicious.
  4. Launching an unlawful war in Iran because he misread a meme.
  5. Firing gay soldiers for existing.
  6. Firing trans soldiers for breathing.
  7. Disenfranchising Black soldiers for having opinions.
  8. Removing female service members because he’s threatened by competence.
  9. Ignoring horrific conditions on the USS Abraham Lincoln.
  10. Declaring martial law in a Waffle House parking lot “for training purposes.”

The ancestors are now chain‑smoking imaginary cigarettes.

And there you have it. The tragic, comedic, catastrophic tale of Secretary Pete Hegseth. A man who proves daily that power in the wrong hands isn’t just dangerous. It’s slapstick tragedy. He is not a leader. He is not a strategist. He is a walking, talking cautionary tale wrapped in ego, chaos, and the belief that consequences are for other people. And after all of that, I would be an alcoholic too. Mic dropped. Floor cracked. Ancestors nodding in exhausted agreement. Thanks for reading! Get out and vote.

Affirmation: I release chaos. Embrace clarity. And refuse to let anyone with a title and a temper ruin my peace.

The Scott Bessant Treasury Trauma Diaries

“Corruption doesn’t need brilliance. Just a man bold enough to lie with confidence.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Grab the ancestors again. Because today we’re writing one unified, unhinged, fully roast‑blog about the most catastrophically incompetent Treasury leader ever to grace a swivel chair. His name is Scott “Member of the Closetocracy” Bessant. And we’re stitching in the employee diary so tight the ancestors themselves are flipping through it like it’s a family Bible. Settle in.

The ancestors are already pacing barefoot in the yard. Clutching sweet tea and muttering, “Lord, this boy ain’t right.” The Treasury Secretary has turned America’s finances into a haunted carnival ride. That is powered by lies, coverups, and the kind of corruption that makes calculators file HR complaints. This man walked into the Treasury Department like he was entering a casino he already owed money to. He came equipped with a briefcase full of lies. A moral compass that points directly to embezzlement. A smile that says, “I definitely deleted the wrong email on purpose.” And a leadership style best described as “raccoon in a bank vault” The ancestors have lit the sage. The interns have hidden the staplers. The diary has been opened. Let’s begin.

Scott Bessant has turned the Treasury Department into a Dollar Store clearance bin of chaos. His financial policies rattle when you shake them. His press conferences contradict themselves before he finishes the first sentence. His scandals are alphabetically organized. And we still ran out of alphabet.

He once said, “We’re financially stable.” While standing in front of a spreadsheet that looked like a heart monitor flatlining. He tried to explain inflation using a sock puppet named “Fiscal Freddy.” He once told reporters, “The missing funds will turn up.” As if billions of dollars are a set of car keys he misplaced in a couch cushion. Maybe JD Vance will find it there. And now we reveal the diary.

These entries were written in the margins of government notebooks. Smudged with tears and coffee. And the quiet despair of someone who has watched Scott Bessant try to explain basic math.

Day 12: Scott held a meeting to “clarify the budget.” He brought a whiteboard with the words: “Step 1: vibes. Step 2: trust me.” I have updated my résumé.

Day 27: He told us the missing gold bars were “on loan.” To whom? He winked. I cried.

Day 41: Scott introduced a new financial policy called “Money Momentum.” It’s just… gambling. He made us clap.

Day 63: He asked if we could “round down the national debt.” I asked if he meant mathematically or spiritually. He said, “Yes.”

Day 78: He hosted a mandatory team-building exercise called “Find the Fraud.” It was him. He was the fraud.

Day 102: He announced a new transparency initiative. Then he turned off all the lights and whispered, “Now no one can see the numbers.”

Day 119: He started a Treasury TikTok series called “Budget Daddy.” I have submitted my resignation.

Day 140: He tried to “manifest financial stability.” He lit incense. The fire alarm went off.

Day 167: He declared himself “The People’s Accountant.” The people did not ask for this.

Day 200: He tried to pay for lunch with a commemorative coin. The cashier refused. He said, “This is why the economy is failing.” I whispered, “No, sir. You are.”

10 Things That Made Scott Bessant the Bandit a Corruption Hall-of-Famer

  1. The $4 Billion Disappearing Act He said it “evaporated.” Sir, money is not steam.
  2. The Propaganda PowerPoints He spent millions on slides that said “Everything is fine” in Comic Sans.
  3. The Fake Audit He hired a magician. A literal magician.
  4. The Gold Bar “Samples” Samples of what, Scott?
  5. The Treasury TikTok Debacle He made interns film him juggling staplers while saying, “Watch me balance this budget.”
  6. The Cayman Islands “Business Trip” He returned with a tan and a suspicious necklace.
  7. The Emergency Budget Meeting He showed up with a whiteboard that said: “Step 1: Panic. Step 2: Blame Janet.”
  8. The National Debt Raffle First prize: Lunch with Scott. No one entered.
  9. The Coverup Coverup He lied about lying about lying. A corruption turducken.
  10. The Treasury Escape Room He locked reporters inside until they “understood economics.” They emerged traumatized.

And that is the full saga of Scott Bessant. The U.S. Treasury leader who turned the nation’s finances into a haunted carnival ride. He is the human equivalent of a bounced check. The spiritual embodiment of a malfunctioning calculator. The reason the ancestors keep muttering, “Put that boy in a time-out.” His legacy will be remembered as a treasury held together with duct tape. A budget written in crayon. A department powered by caffeine, prayer, and denial. And after all of that, I would stay in the closet also. Mic dropped. Floor cracked. Ancestors nodding. Diary closed. Treasury still smoking. Thanks for reading! Vote these fools out!

Affirmation: I rise above chaos. See through manipulation. And refuse to bow to fools with power.

The Administration’s War on Women: A Southern Woman’s Warning Shot

“When they try to silence you remember. Your voice carries the strength of every woman who refused to disappear.”

-This Puzzled Life

Light the charcoal. Sprinkle the sage. Invoke the ancestors. At this point, I need every woman who ever walked barefoot through red clay. Every grandmother who ever whispered warnings in church pews. And every ancestor who ever held the line when the world tried to fold them in half. I need their strength, fire, and their stubborn refusal to disappear.

We are living in a moment where misogyny isn’t hiding in the shadows. It’s out here doing cartwheels in broad daylight. Feminists are fighting battles we already fought. Already won. Already buried. And already prayed over. And somehow, under this administration, those victories are being dug up like someone’s trying to rewrite the past and call it “progress.”

It’s emotional. It’s infuriating. It’s surreal. And yes the sarcasm is necessary. Because if I don’t laugh, I’ll start flipping tables. This isn’t just politics. This is personal. This is generational. This is spiritual. This is about the rights that shape our bodies, futures, families, safety, and dignity.

Before I get into this, let me say this clearly. These aren’t abstract policy points. These are lived experiences. These are wounds. These are warnings. These are the things I feel in my bones when I wake up and read the news.

Ten Women’s Rights Being Dismantled By This Administration

1. Reproductive autonomy

It feels like someone reached into my life and tried to snatch the steering wheel. Like our bodies are suddenly a battleground for people who will never carry a pregnancy. Never face the risks. And never feel the fear. It’s invasive. It’s dehumanizing. It’s infuriating.

2. Access to contraception

This rollback feels like a punishment for daring to plan my life. For daring to protect myself. For daring to choose when and if motherhood fits into my story. It’s insulting to my intelligence and dangerous to my future.

3. Domestic violence protections

Watching these weaken feels like watching a door slowly close on women, like me, who needed it open the most. It feels like the system is shrugging at our trauma. Like safety is optional. Like survival is a privilege instead of a right.

4. Equal pay initiatives

Women who have worked their whole lives have carried more weight than they should’ve had to. Seeing equal pay slip backward feels like being told, “Your work matters. But not as much as his.” It’s a slap wrapped in a smile.

5. Sexual harassment safeguards

This rollback feels like a return to the days when women had to swallow discomfort to keep a job. When we had to laugh off comments to survive. When our boundaries were treated like suggestions. It’s a reminder of every moment I felt unsafe but stayed quiet.

6. Maternal healthcare funding

As a mother, this one cuts deep. Pregnancy is not a hobby. Childbirth is not a casual event. Reducing maternal care feels like telling women, “Your life is an acceptable risk.” It’s cruel. It’s reckless. It’s unforgivable.

7. Title IX protections

I think of every girl who dreams big. Girls who run. Jump. Compete. And fight for their place. Rolling back Title IX feels like telling them, “Your dreams matter less.” It’s a theft of opportunity and a betrayal of potential.

8. Workplace discrimination enforcement

I’ve been labeled “too outspoken,” “too emotional,” “too much.” Weakening enforcement feels like handing every biased boss a permission slip. It feels like erasing the progress women clawed their way toward.

9. Childcare support programs

Working mother know that childcare is the backbone of survival. Cutting support feels like telling women, “Figure it out.” While knowing the system is designed for women to fail. It’s dismissive and deeply out of touch.

10. Representation in leadership roles

I’ve watched rooms full of men make decisions about women’s lives with the confidence of people who will never face the consequences. Reducing representation feels like erasing our voices from the future which is silencing by design.

Before I close, let me introduce what I’m about to say. This isn’t just a conclusion. This is a vow. A reminder. A line drawn in the sand. I am not here to shrink. I am not here to be quiet. I am not here to politely accept the erosion of my rights. I am the charcoal lit. I am the sage burning. I am the echo of every woman who refused to bow. And I will not sit still while my rights are peeled away like petals from a flower someone never bothered to water. Feminists aren’t fighting for attention. We’re fighting for survival. For dignity. For the future, our daughters deserve. And the one our ancestors dreamed of.

Let them underestimate us. Let them believe silence is compliance. Let them think we won’t notice. Because when women rise, we rise like storms. We rise like thunder rolling across the South. We rise like every ancestor who ever said, “Not today.” And watch us reclaim every damn thing they tried to take.

Affirmation: I rise rooted in truth that is guided by my ancestors. Fueled by my fire. And unshakeable in my right to exist fully, loudly, and freely.
